Ah right.  That means Lona's machine is a lesser spec than I thought.  Thanks Cammy.   :)

you pay for quality. The problem isn't the machine its the OS.....

I personally love Acers... though if you want HDMI it gets pricey... http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0248976588.1260660074@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccfladejdiljlehcflgceggdhhmdgml.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=106595&category_oid=-36730

(in case the links doesn't work: Product code: 106595)

My desktops are both Acers and I've been quite happy with them.  That seems an excellent spec Sam.  The only thing that bothers me is the PC World thingy. :vomit:

If it's the machine you want, it doesn't matter that it comes from PC World, does it?  At least it will be easy to get any problems sorted.

This is the Fiesta to Sams Jag....

That has HDMI too so whatever it is you go for in the end i doubt you'll have to pay over £400 for a Fiesta  :)x

Here is Sams model with a 250GB hard drive against 500GB and 3GB of Ram against 4GB.

Windows 32 can only use 3GB of Ram anyway but it's still a pretty expensive Fiesta at £490.24  ::)

Regardless, Clive, I think the Samsung is a far superior laptop and it has a led screen.

You should be able to get an offer similar to these in January if not before...

 Dell Laptop with Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.2GHz, 800MHz, 2MB) Windows 7 Pre 64 bit 3GB Ram, 250HDD £399

 or this...

Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop, Intel T4300 2.1GHz processor, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Windows 7 Home Premium £348.99

I didn't check if they had HDMI or not but my Dell one does.

Those two laptops have small screens, Cammy.  I wanted a 17" screen and there aren't many of them around just now.

Lona i wasn't meaning those laptops for you.

Clive asked for a fiesta when yours is an estate  :)x  ;)

I couldn't begin to compare Samsung with Dell as i only really know Dell as i've bought about 6 major items from them in the last 6 years and never had a problem.

If yours came up for under £400 in the sales i'd expect Clive should be considering it too  ;D

HaHa!  Both offers have expired!  My own fault cos I've not been able to get online today because of a constant stream of visitors.   :)
