Chuck Berry, the guitarist and songwriter recognised as one of the fathers of rock 'n' roll, has died aged 90.
Berry's seven-decade career boasted a string of hits, including classics Roll Over Beethoven and Johnny B. Goode.
He received a lifetime achievement Grammy in 1984 and was among the first inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.
His death was confirmed by police in the US state of Missouri.
The singer was found unresponsive at 12:40 local time (17:40 GMT) on Saturday, St Charles County police said in a statement. He could not be revived and was pronounced dead at 13:26.

One of the first records that I remember was Havana Moon. It blew me away and we featured it in one of the first bands I fronted. 

Sad loss but what a good innings he had and he will never be forgotten.

I saw him on stage at Cardiff back in the 60's. Bo Diddly and the Duchess with touring with him along with other big names that I have sadly forgotten.

That is a fantastic website Den and brings back many memories.  Sadly I still can't identify the Bo Diddley/Chuck Berry concert.  What made it special was that the Duchess appeared with Chuck.  It was held in the Cardiff Capitol which was infinitely better than Sophia Gardens where the sound quality was dreadful.

I've now gone all the way back to 1961 which is probably the first year I ever went to pop concerts but cannot find the one I'm looking for.  But it's a fabulous website all the same.
