o no the pic doesnt work there either :'(
-
Put the url on here that you are linking to without any tags or anything and we will see if we can help :)
-
i have deleted it now.. i figure i have no chance ::)
-
I've deleted the url from your first post, Jonah, because it was causing the page to load slowly, as have lots of threads with that url in them today. :) I just tried the url myself, and the page loads after a while, but the image refuses to load, so that's the problem, it seems. Maybe they have removed that image from the site? I've put the url below.
http://www.animatedgif.net/miscellaneous/5temp_e0.gif

it loads instantly for me? but you know on animation factory could you give me the example of the url you have in so i can try it?
Jonah
-
Sorry Jonah, you've lost me. ???
The url above is the one you were using, and it comes up 403 Forbidden.
-
for me it loads straight away? ???
-
Do you have to register with that site or log in someway Jonah ???
-
It loads for me also - its a themometer animated gif.
Could you not host the picture yourself, or get someone you know to host it and get a link to it that way?

Jonah I went to the home page of the site of your gif and in the FAQs it says :
Can't I just Link to your image by using a hyperlink?
No NO NOOOO. This is where you use an anchor tag to call up the animated image from our website to display it on yours, ie: [img src="http://www.animatedgif.net/art/home.gif" border=0 alt=""]
This is bad for several reasons.
1. If AnimatedGif.net changes the name of the image, your link is broken and nothing will show up on your page.
2. You are STEALING bandwidth from us, by forcing our server to send the image to your website visitor rather than sending it yourself.
3. It's much slower, since your user must draw images and text from your server, and then wait for our server to send that image. FOOLISH DESIGN SHERLOCK.
INSTEAD: Make a copy of our image and save the copy on your own hard drive. Use your own copies of images to build your sites (pretend it's a photograph you're trying to insert into your page). Your site will be much faster and won't use our bandwidth.
-------------------------------------------------------
So you will have to copy the gif and save it to your hard drive and host it on your own webspace, or ask Uncle Sean very nicely, if he will host it on Pals for you :)
-
ok.. i will do that but i use geocities and it was down yesterday so... i cant do it yet ;)
Jonah
-
Does your ISP not offer any free webspace, Jonah? Hosting stuff on Geocities can cause the same problems if the site is down, like it was when you posted. If it's just an avatar pic you want hosting, I'm sure Sean would host it on Pals webspace for you, if you ask nicely. ;)
