Wasn't sure what forum to post this so if ya need to move it, please do so.
I spent all day yesterday backing up everything. Today I was ready to reformat but came across a major obsticle, I can't find the WinME installation disk. All I found was the start-up disk. Question is now what do I do? I don't want to leave it as it is. So is there another way to do this or maybe just format and install WinXP? Is that possible? Open to any and all suggestions! :-\

Hi Stormy, probably best to just install XP as its far better than ME, mind you anything is better than ME ;D ;D ;D
Just set your bios to boot from the CD as the first boot device and XP will format and partition your drive to which size/s you want before it installs itself.
Just follow the on screen instructions and you cant go wrong :)
-
Already thought of that but XP will conflict with quite a few of my programs so I'm needing to stay with ME. :-\
-
If you must have an old OS cant you get a copy of 98SE somewhere ?
That should run the progs that wont run in XP, which are they by the way ?
Usually its older hardware that has problems running with XP as you can set the run in 98/ ME compatability mode under the program properties and compatability mode part :)

Edited out, as I hadn't read it right the first time.

There's no way I can go back to 98. I had way too many problems with that one and found ME a lot easier to deal with and have had no major problems out of it. I'm just gonna have to find another copy of ME. I still have my key in case I need it. Just a matter of finding one.

So do I Hiatus. ;D. I think Sandra gets commission from Bill Gates for converting people to XP. ;)

I just like to enlighten people like you Lona to the benefits of a superior OS :P
-
Have you guys noticed that you are no longer getting any Windows Updates for Me? Even Microsoft don't support it anymore. ;D
-
That's because it's too good for any more upgrades ;D ;D

Call me a cynic but.......
You're a cynic!
......well maybe I am but it seems to me that most of the time when there are problems with trojans etc, it's people that have XP. Could this be because people normally updat their OS when a new one shows up so they become the vunerable group because, as there are more of them, they are the one worth attacking?
Just a thought. Pity I can't say the same about mozilla and shut Simon up as well :P ;)

The Chuckle Brothers (Tony and Simon), rarely make sense.
We allow them to participate in the forum though as part of their ongoing treatment through "Care In The Community" :)

Is that why we don't see much of them at night, cos they have to observe a curfew? :D

Well, Tony definitely[/b] need his beauty sleep, although it doesn't seem to be working, ;D and I find that you get some funny people appearing after dark, and I wouldn't want to have bad dreams. :P :P

Hey Simon, you should have more variety in your life, a few bad dreams interspursed with your wet ones, would do you no lasting harm whatsoever. :-X ;D ;) :P
