"Dressed" in Roman robes, a 2,000-year-old coffin stares back from a rare Egyptian grave in the Bahariya Oasis, about 225 miles (362 kilometers) southwest of Cairo (Egypt map).

Where's Erich Von Daniken when you need him? ;D
-
A blast from the past, Clive. :)
-
He had a cult following until he was exposed as a charleton.
-
Yes, but in the 70s he was required reading. :)
-
I bought all his books! ;D
-
We did too. BCA?
-
But of course! ;D
-
;D
Now we will have them wondering, Clive. ;D
-
Indeed!
-
Let me know when you'd like an explanation. ;)
-
:sigh: Go on then... ;)
-
Back in the 70s, book clubs were big business. There was a huge range of 'individual' clubs, eg History, Military, Fiction etc, but it was one business - Book Club Associates, BCA. Their editions were printed from the same plates as the original books, but used cheaper paper and binding - not bad, but not as good as.
-
I knew about BCA, as I've used them myself. I thought you were going to explain who Erich Von Daniken was.
-
No-one could explain that. ;D
-
Not so clever now then. :wahh: ;D
-
Well, if you insist...
Erich Anton Paul von Däniken (born April 14, 1935) is a controversial Swiss author best known for his claims about extraterrestrial influences on early human culture, in books such as Chariots of the Gods?, published in 1968. Däniken is one of the main figures responsible for popularizing the paleocontact and ancient astronaut hypotheses.
Däniken is a co-founder of the Archaeology, Astronautics and SETI Research Association (AAS RA). He developed a theme park called Mystery Park in Interlaken, Switzerland, which opened on May 23, 2003 and closed on November 19, 2006.
His 26 books have been translated into more than 20 languages, selling more than 60 million copies worldwide, and his documentary TV shows have been viewed around the world.

Chariots of the Gods? was legendary and he had us all believing in it. It was serialised in the newpapers and people visited the sites he claimed were the work of alien visitors. One by one his claims were exposed as hoaxes but not before he made a personal fortune out of selling the books.
