BSOD
«

Is alive and well.
Last time I used this particular computer I downloaded AVG Free and it worked fine for a few weeks. When I turned it on today all I could get was a BSOD which mumbled about "dumps" and the possibility that recently installed hardware or software might be responsible for the ill health of the computer. I re-booted in safe mode and removed AVG. Now it seems absolutely fine again. Why has AVG become so crappy? I've now downloaded Alvira since Avast was such a pain in the a*s to download.

When is your F-Secure licence renewal, Clive? Not sure how many machines you have on the go now, but the new licence will cover three machines.

I had to format that machine and F-Secure won't allow me to use it again.

Your original licence was just for one machine, yes? Have you since renewed it? If so, the new licence should be for three machines. If you have formatted one of them, you should still be able to licence F-Secure on it, if you have already done so previously.

This is the machine that lost the internet and was running painfully slow. I only use it as an internet terminal so I thought the best thing was to simply reinstall Windows and start again. Trouble was that F-Secure claims all my 3 lives have been used up and it won't play ball again.

I'll see if I can find a number for them.

Perhaps it works on activations, so if you have previously activated a licence, you can't activate it again?
Anyway, here's the UK support number: 0870 0130 794 (Mon-Sun 24-hour service).

Oh that's brilliant Simon because F-Secure is far more comprehensive than Alvira. I looked for a phone number but just couldn't find one.
