Right, I'm getting slightly out of my depth, but I think, if you have a Windows 98 CD, and you run Start > Run > sfc, it should replace the damaged .dll, but please wait for a proper techie to confirm that, as I don't want to bugger up Windows for you!   :laugh:

Edit:-  It's sfc, not scandisk!   :blush:

That wont do any harm Simon, it should just replace or repair any damaged or missing system files.
You could try a repair on IE, go into add/remove then windows components and select repair or possibly even remove it then re install it again from your 98 cd or if on BB download IE 6  :)

she came up with the goods-------i re-installed i.e.6 and things are o.k.
would have been nice to know what went wrong though.
