I find it awkward as well DJ but recently I have started using the section at the top of the main page when its lost the markers and find the unread posts that way  :)

Think I'll start using that 'posts from 1 day' function.

That way I won't miss any madness or mahem that goes on in here!!

Not at all Tony, in fact they are a very nice feature that makes Pals stand out from other lesser forums  :P
