Fourthcoming downtime
« on: June 22, 2005, 21:47 »
We have been informed by our hosts that our server is being moved from Nottingham to Leeds.  This will take place on July 4th beween 9 pm and 6 am the following morning and it's possible the forum may be down for up to 10 hours.  The Nottingham department is apparently out of date and is to be closed, whereas Leeds has had all new equipment installed.  It means that the forum should then run even faster and be more reliable.  8)  Please accept our grovelling apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Just to remind everyone of the above, which is happening on Monday evening.  We have no control over the precise timings of this operation, as we are entirely in the hands of our hosts, Pipex Web Fusion, but we hope that their estimated down times will be reasonably accurate, and that we should be up and running again by the Tuesday morning.

As some of you may have already noticed, we appear to be experiencing occasional error messages, while navigating the forum.  We are assuming this is due to our hosts making preparations for the server move, which is scheduled to start tomorrow night.

Please do not adjust your sets - normal service will resume as soon as possible!   :D

Oh God !!!

I've forgotten that. You've already reminded us, but my memory is so short.

I contacted Sandra especially to ask her if she had simillar problems, (not knowing the cause).    :(

Folks, I have just found out that the server migration scheduled for last Monday, did not actually take place.  I did wonder, as it appeared we had not experienced any downtime.

However, we have now been informed that it has been rescheduled for this Monday, July 11th, between the hours of 9pm and 6am.  The estimated downtime will be approximately 4 hours, which could happen at anytime between the hours stated.

Sorry, once again, for any inconvenience.  We are entirely in the hands of our hosts, and have no control over this procedure.

  I thought that the forum had become a little slower since the phantom changeover.  Before long it will be singing "Daisy Daisy"
