Google search box
« on: November 08, 2002, 22:54 »
On my old computer I had a permanent Google search box at the top of my page, but I can't remember how I did  it.  It was a really handy feature and I'm sure I had to download something. Does anyone know how I can get it back?

Clive, it was the Google Toolbar, I do believe.  I've got one and it's really handy.  If you go to the Google home page, you can download it from there, but make sure you go into 'Preferences' after downloading and set it to Google UK, or it will default to searching US sites.   :)

I note they've now added quite a comprehensive news-feed tab, too.  That's stuffed Ananova then.

Right, good work Clive - if only everything was that simple!!   ;D ;D

I only use it for searching, but the news thing might be interesting as well, thanks Rod.  :)

I've just added that one, it's the best news page I've seen.  Google  always do things so well don't they?  Thank Rodders.  ;D

Isn't the Googly toolbar full of spyware? :(

Or am I confusing it with the Alexa toolbar ???

Shape up Big Guy!  Another one from Clive's cellar, and you'll be imagining that crowbars are full of crows.  I just hope you guys haven't been smoking Clive's lawn!   :-*

There are two versions of the Google Toolbar.  One is an 'Advanced' version, which does contain spyware, to enable it's functions, but the 'Standard' version contains no spyware, which is the one I use.  :)
