I installed MSN messenger version 6 on a friends pc which should work on windows 98.

It installed OK but wouldn't allow her to logon.

The message kept coming up that she wasn't connected to the internet even although she was.

Anybody got any ideas???

Is a firewall blocking it ?

That would make it think that the pc wasnt online and could send that message.

I thought of that but usually a firewall comes up and asks if you want to allow a programme's access.

So how would she overcome that if it is the firewall?

Best thing to do is to temporarily disable it then see if you can connect to MSN.

I thought of that too but my friend won't do it.

She either needs to get a different firewall or lose out on MSN
