Tips for new site
« on: November 05, 2006, 13:39 »
We can add to this as we go along, but here's the first:-

I found it annoying that after posting, I was taken back to the Index, rather than to the post.  There is a simple tick box in your Profile to remedy this.  Go to Look and Layout Preferences and tick Return to topics after posting by default.

Hope that helps some of you.  If there are any questions, PLEASE ask!!  We are all getting used to the new software, but it really isn't that much different to the old board.  :)

Please note the Additional Options underneath the posting text box.  These may be useful to you, and I think they can all be set on or off by default in your Profile settings.

Adding Flash sigs is easier now, and the format is-

Code: [Select]
[flash=500,100]url[/flash]
The size can be varied according to the size of your sig - but please keep to a maximum width of 500px and a maximium height of 450px.

You may notice and signs around the site.  These collapse and expand certain sections of the layout, so if you don't want to see your user avatar first thing in the morning, you don't have to!  ;D

Yes, you have 90 seconds to edit your posts without the "Last edit..." notification appearing, then you have a further 60 minutes to edit your post thereafter.

To those of you who have been here long enough to remember it, the calendar is back, so if you want a mention on your birthday, put it in your profile!  Don't worry, you don't have to put the year.  :o:
