Site aims to make switching simple
« on: January 22, 2007, 13:04 »
A new online broadband comparison service has been launched today.

Top 10 Broadband has been set up by Formula, a London-based digital marketing firm. The site aims to help potential customers "make informed broadband purchases effortlessly," according to the company.

The site contains information about downloading music, how broadband works and offers a jargon guide that explains commonly-used terms.

There are currently several broadband comparison services available in the UK, such as those offered by uSwitch.com and moneysupermarket.com.

Firsthelpline.com, another price comparison service, has also recently set up a broadband guide as Web User reported last week.

Though firsthelpline, uSwitch and moneysupermarket all offer price comparisons for other services such as utilities, insurance and telephony, Top 10 Broadband will concentrate exclusively on DSL services, at least for now.

Alex Buttle, internet marketing director at Top 10 Broadband, told Web User that the service's focus was to make comparing broadband deals as simple and quick for the customer as possible.

"We want to make it an enjoyable rather than a frustrating experience. With our service, you can find the same information as on other services but very, very quickly," Buttle said.

Buttle also intimated that Top 10 Broadband aims to avoid the text-heavy designs used by other price comparison services.

Formula, the company behind Top 10 Broadband, may also venture into other areas in the future, said Buttle. One of the ideas being discussed is a mobile phone comparison service, though this is unlikely to happen before next year.
