Vista Compatability?
« on: June 03, 2007, 09:36 »
I was going to ask if anyone knew what programs were compatible with Vista, but instead I googled it and found this.

http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.php/Windows_Vista_Software_Compatibility_List

Do you think it should also be posted in "Useful Sites" as well.  :dunno:

It could certainly be useful here in the Vista section.  In fact, I'll make it a sticky.  :)

I sent an email with a Vista word document attachment and she couldn't open it.  She has an older version of word.  I have to save my stuff as .doc instead of .docx so people can read them - wierd.

yeah .docx uses the new xml version of saving files which is just annoying... its microsoft trying to steal the ideas of Open Office and end up confusing all of its users.

Yeah, probably the majority of my ummm..... freeish :o: software will be incompatible with vista.

I've been thinking of putting an installation of vista on a little 100 gig drive and having a bigger hard drive with a ubuntu or debian installation on one of my others in the new quad machine i'm going to finish in a few weeks. I haven't had the chance to really play with the new sp1 version of vista and see the main differences between it and xp.

I think Im in the minority but I love it and prefer it to XP but thtas from a run of the mill user,I love most of its features and find it much easier to navigate around ........so Vista for me.I have basic on one lap top and premium on the other.....no points which I prefer  ;D

I teach English to telecommunications engineers and they give Vista the thumbs down, but they probably did the same when XP came out. I think it's become a second nature to dislike anything that Microsoft does.
What does annoy me about Vista is that my simulators won't play on it :bawl:

I think there is an element of that, but even Microsoft have recognised that Vista isn't what it should have been, hence the advent of Windows 7 so soon after.

I know an IT gut who has a theory that they do it on purpose, have a good system then a bad one then good etc.
