A new home
« on: May 11, 2008, 11:15 »
Hi All,

We have moved!!

We are now on a host provided by IDNET.

If you have any issues or spot any glitches please let me know... oh and the current address is http://pcpals.hosting.idnet.net/forum/ but once we change the DNS (later in the week) this will go back to being the normal pc-pals.com - we just rushed through the changes because the situation with our old hosts was becoming too annoying.

Well done, Sam.  Thanks for your continuing efforts to look after the well-being of this forum.

The bad news is, Gill, that you're now on the same server, Samson, as IDNetters. If we get a bit noisy, just bang on the wall. ;)

You're on the same server as us - you think we'll let it go down? ;)

You don't - you could always pay for the hosting. ;)

Indeed. We just need to knock down the dividing wall and then we can really let rip.

The contra sponsorship deal was discussed some weeks ago by forum staff, Cammy, and everyone was entitled to a say.  Approval was assumed from those who didn't partake.  :)

Oh and just to clarify something else - Rik is not a staff member of IDNet, so any comments / complaints should be directed towards PC Pals staff.  ;)

Simon has several ways to get hold of me, or of IDNet, Cammy. :)

That probably doesn't sound as clear as it did in my head. :)

I don't work for IDNet, I'm a customer and an Admin on their forum. As such, I have a good working relationship with the staff and directors of the company, but I'm nothing to do with PC Pals relationship with IDNet. At best, my helpfulness to Pals will be that if the server we share goes down, I'll be banging on about it from a Netters perspective.

Politics aside (as I haven't a clue what you're all banging on about) well done, Sam, for getting everything up and running so quickly.  :)

There may be a little more downtime when we have to change the host nameservers during next week, but we'll post an advance warning of this, if it's likely to be significant.
