Rock Pioneer Bo Diddley Dies at 79
LINK
Clive:
Very sad indeed. I was a big fan of Bo Diddley and saw him on stage a number of times
- usually with other Chess artistes such as Chuck Berry, Howlin' Wolf and Sonny Boy Williamson. He would always perform with the DUCHESS who died very recently.
Rik:
He was also a big influence on many others including, of course, Buddy Holly.
Clive:
Yes, Buddy Holly unashamedly stole Bo Diddley's trademark rhythm using maracas. Several of the obituaries I've read claim it to be a rumba beat but I would dispute that!
Simon:
Before my time, but he was a great influence, and I am sure will be sadly missed.
