sam:

--- Quote from: Simon on September 05, 2008, 20:31 ---They always used to play the National Anthem at closedown, followed by the 'Don't forget to turn off your television set' thing, then that tone that was supposed to wake you up if you'd fallen asleep watching the TV.  Who remembers the white dot when you turned your TV off?  ;D

--- End quote ---

nope. I think I remember seeing the tone on BBC 2...

Simon:
Bloody kids!   ;D

David:
I remember that Simon.we used to stare at it....waiting for what,I dont know...

But you ,prompted my memory with that sort of buzzing tone.....and I can recall people actually standing for the national anthem,OK it was not that common,(was in the cinema) but I have known the odd one or two stand in front of the TV............

Strange days indeed moma...most peculiar  ;)

Clive:
When the presenter said "Goodnight" at the end of the day's transmission (10 pm) my great grandfather used to say "goodnight" back to him.   Now TV is still being transmitted at 11 pm.  (apparantly).  ::)

David:
  Shame there is not a lot on any more   ;D
