Makers of fake anti-virus software are exploiting search engines to drive people to sites peddling 'scareware'.

Using popular and mis-spelled search terms, the criminals divert people to sites that are seeded with fake warnings about virus infections.

Daisy wheel? They were fun.

Not sure what a daisy wheel is.

It's a disc with all the characters on it, each character being on a separate 'petal' so that they can be struck by the hammer to imprint the letter. It was a response to the IBM golfball. Both technologies actually produced better type than anything since.

I think mine must be slightly newer technology than that.  I'm pretty sure it's an ink jet printer.

Shame. The old 'letterpress' equivalent methods were superb.

I think the dot matrix printers replaced the daisywheel but the print quality was - well- dotty!

They were contemporary technologies, Clive, but the flexibility of the dot matrix saw off the daisywheels.
