Not for me, I've always done reportage. The pics I take, apart from landscapes, need to be grabbed in the second that they are there. You can't do that with a tripod, especially in crowds.

I guess there's no easy way round that one. :(
Rik:
No, I've tried and it just didn't work. For example, I was trying to photograph a pipe band on the march, but I couldn't set up, take it and get out of the way in time. Same with candid shots of dancers practising. A tripod makes you very visible.

Indeed, and as you say, often the best shots are gone in half a second.
