The Chorley and Leiston Thread

TR:
Harrow Borough 0 - 0 Leiston. still a point away from home is good?

AFC Telford 2 - 0 Chorley

Chorley 2 - 0 Boston United    Att. 834

Didn't go today as I had family matters to attend to.  Apparently Chorley played well against a team who started the day just outside the play-off places.  Now only six points off the play-offs ourselves.  Can we do it?  Nah, too inconsistent at the moment.

TR:
Grays Athletic 0 Blues 2

Latest run of form continues at Grays Athletic

A goal at the end of either half earned the Blues a first ever away win against Grays Athletic. Man of the Match Gareth Heath opened the scoring with a classy finish while substitute Jake Taylor scored his first League goal of the season in the final minute to seal the victory.

Just outside the play off again. ;)

Lancashire FA Trophy Final:

Chorley 2 - 2 Lancaster City

Chorley won 3-1 on penalties.

I don't like penalty shoot outs, but I have to hand it to Chorley goalie, Sam Ashton, he must be the world's best at stopping the ball from 12 yards.  In the last three penalty shoot outs we have faced, he has let in just two!  Last night he saved the first three and only had to face four because Chorley missed the first!

Four times in the last five seasons and a record seventeen times we have won this competition.  It's true to say that Chorley are the biggest club in the competition and some folk think that we shouldn't enter.  I wonder if those same folk were saying that when Wigan Athletic were non league and the biggest club in the competition, but we beat them almost every season in it?  Shouldn't the smaller Lancashire clubs get the chance for their moment of glory like we used to when Wigan were in it?
