Nice one, Leiston!
Blank day for Chorley yesterday, prior to Mondays night's Lancashire Trophy Final vs Kendal Town at Bolton Wanderers Reebok Stadium, a competition which, in its previous guise of the Lancs Junior Cup, Chorley easily hold the record of winners by a country mile. When I was a nipper, it was invariably Chorley vs Wigan Athletic in the final (when Wigan were the country's top non-league club) and Chorley were their bogey team. TBH, I can't remember us ever losing to them. Probably the most memorable final was at Wigan's old ground, Springfield Park, in the 1978 final when Graham Barrow won it for us with a header from a corner in the last move of the match. Graham later went on to play for Wigan and manage them as a league side.
Should be a close game tomorrow. Kendal score plenty goals, but haven't kept a clean sheet all season> Only yesterday, they had a hard fought 3-2 win away at Rushall Olympic, a team that doesn't take any prisoners, so (hopefully) they'll still be suffering the effects of that ordeal.
