Businesses using Windows XP don't have to move to Windows 8 once Microsoft withdraws support - they should consider other "innovative" options such as tablets, Chrome OS and virtualisation, Ovum has said.

I'll be going to Windows 7 - unless M$ decide to extend support for XP.   :worm:

Go on Simon, give windows 8 a try. I think you would be amazed just how good it is. I put a start button on my spare desktop and it works very well but I don't think you need it once you get used it being on the right.  :devil:
Fourth in the 2018 Quiz of the Year but at least I beat Clive.

I've got a copy of Windows 7 still sealed in it's box from when it first came out, so no point buying Win8 as well.  I don't like to rush things.  ;D

I really like Win7.. but my experience of windows 8 on a normal machine left me confused. I don't see the point in it unless you have a touch screen device.

I do keep thinking about doing it, but it's such a mammoth task backing everything up first, just in case (I do have Windows on a separate partition), then reinstalling all the programs afterwards.  It would take at least a full day, so I need to psyche myself up for it.
