BT charges set to rise
« on: August 23, 2014, 09:16 »
BT has warned millions of customers it is increasing its prices by up to 6.5% from December this year.

It will increase the line rental for direct debit customers by 6.25% to £16.99, and the rate for calling UK landlines by 6.44%.

The set-up fee for landline calls, residential calls, to the speaking clock and call return charges will also increase for some or all customers.

But BT said it had added "extra money-saving options" for poorer customers.

Ditching BT earlier this year after 25 years of "amazing" service was probably the best thing i've done this year

Moving to BT for their Infinity 1 was probably the best thing I did last year.   ;D

So far so good, I was very happy at Idnet and would not have moved if they could have matched the BT deal. Sadly I think the smaller providers will disappear over the next few years and we will have to choose between crap such as Talk Talk or main line providers such as BT.  :dunno:

I know TalkTalk get some bad press, but I have never regretted moving from BT to TalkTalk.  I currently get line rental, totally unlimited broadband (and it is TOTALLY UNLIMITED) and anytime calls to landlines for £24.84 a month by Direct Debit, but because I always take advantage of the early payment discount and pay my bill by debit card within 24 hours of receiving the notification email I actually pay £20.80.  I get a download speed of between 18Mbps and 20Mbps on ordinary copper wires (Think Broadband Speedtest) and have never once had a dropped connection.

If anybody knows of an ISP that can offer better value for money - I'm listening!  ;D

The point is that what ever works for us is great and we stick with them. It's when it goes wrong or we get priced out is when we change. At the moment I am finding BT great and my speed on Infinity 1 is fantastic (copper to house but fibre to BT box: 37.5 on a 38max).  ;D

I swallowed my pride and it was worth it.  ;D I used to have a business line and it was costing me a fortune every month and then I had ADSL2+ with Idnet. Now my total bill for land line with unlimited calls and Infinity 1 is less than my Business line plus calls so I'm quids in.

I gave up BT years ago! Theyve always been the dearest in the business. Im now with Talk Talk, and the service is superb. You always get slight problems from time to time, by the very nature of the technology; its a wonder it all works, and Im always amazed that I can speak to people abroad in seconds.

Incidentally, although I havent posted in a while, Ive still been around, just had nothing to say !!

 ;D
