That did not cure the problem so I phoned their support line and spoke to this chap who went away and when he came back on he had cured the problem and said that a block had gone on there and he had sorted it. I can now send and receive texts again.  ;D

I am playing with the Samsung at the moment but am not convinced yet, I will report back. I want to change the ring tone to something like "Old Phone" but have not figured it out yet?

It's no good moving my service to BT Mobile as they own EE and that is the worst coverage in the area by far and Vodafone is the best. I put my wife on Talkmobile at £5/month for unlimited calls and texts so that is great and they are part of Vodafone. 8-)

Exactly what I wanted. I don't think there's a default "old phone" tone available, at least there wasn't on my 3 1/2 year old S6. I went to the play store and got a freebie which sounds perfect.

Den:
I managed to down load a "Old Phone" ring tone and it works fine.

On my iPhone 7 the new battery that I had fitted because my older one would drain down to quickly would also drain quickly and would be down to about 50% by 2.00pm on a normal day.

On the Samsung.  I have not charged it since Saturday night and at the moment it has 1 day 11 hours left to go so I will not bother charging it tonight either.  :o

Simon:
They will never admit it but iPhones have built-in obsolescence, to make you buy a new one.  They've probably put something in the software to make it drain the battery, even when you have a new one put in.

Clive:
My son has been very disappointed with his new iPhone.

My daughter must have Apple, and looks at me pityingly when I suggest other models.
