I remember being at a very raucous party somewhere in Cambridge with her and her sometimes boyfriend Nigel Henbest.  She drunk us all under the table!  (Not that long before your time Sam!)

I am sure it was way before my time anywhere in Cambridge, but not long before I was born! A name I often encountered but don't recall actually encountering. I miss being active in astronomy. No time for it these days though.

She gave a talk at the Cavendish when I was FAS secretary and we always stayed over on the Saturday night to go out for a meal.  Heather wanted to party and I was with Pam Spence and Mike Inglis who were real party animals and total nutters and I felt obliged to attend if I wanted to keep my street cred.  The guy who owned Astronomy Now was also at the party.

Sounds like lots of fun. I don't recall any epic parties when I was secretary, or heck before then..... I remember a meal with you and Ron at one point at some services... maybe going for lunch at Cambridge at some point?

Ron Kelly was not exactly a fun person as he was so introverted and felt very hard done by.  Callum was quite dour too.  When Pam was president it was rock 'n roll.

Money was well managed though.... the reserves they had were astronomical

Yes, that was mainly due to the late great Doc Sutton wielding the axe on the annual spring convention at Coventry which was always lost money.
