I just noticed that 1&1 are now offering dedicated web servers for only £29 per month :o

Does anyone have any experience of these hosts?

Hi Adept,

Sorry no experiance with hosting with 1&1 but I have bought 2 domain names off them.  The domain names packages are great value for money (I think!) and I've been with them for about a year now and no problems ..

I've been studying their mailshots for some time now, and wondered whether the BS dream matched the reality.  If anyone here is hosted by this company, I'd like to hear the 'lowdown', too!

i dont know if this should be a in a "dodgy hosts" forum but 101 Webhosting offer even more for even less...

I think its:

  • PHP/MySQL
  • Perl
  • ASP
  • Domain
  • Unlimited Webspace
  • POP Mailbox / Mail Forwarding

etc etc, for £15.99 /year...

The downside is that the server is down more than Concorde and the support team seem to be asleep all day every day...

As WD well knows my 1st and only domain was hosted there  ;D It's true though, websites are down a lot though I'm not sure if it was just the old server as they have 3 now I think  ;D The guy who runs it says there is also Unlimited Bandwidth though I never got above the 1Gb/month Plesk said  ;)

Thanks for that, WD.  This is quite an old thread you've resurrected, but it's handy to know where not to go should we decide to move hosts in the future.  ;)

Thread now closed.   :)
