running a 33mhz IDE hard disk...
« on: January 29, 2004, 20:24 »
would using an old 33mhz ide hard disk with one of those newer skinnier type ide cables affect it in any way? not the rounded cables, but just those ribbon ones which have skinner wires.

i had a thought as to why this pc keeps locking up so i swapped the cable for an older one and it seems to be running ok now.

whaddya reckon?

I wouldnt have thought so as I tend to use the 80 wire cables, as theyre easier to get now where I get my stuff from, on all drives now whether 33, 66, 100 or 133 and havent had a problem  ???

oh right. it's just really weird, this pc hasn't locked up yet since swapping the cable over. it's still going strong since my first post in this thread and i've been on the net most of that time too.

maybe it was a duff cable or something.... oh well, best not dwell on it hey!?
