Martin Lewis is advertising THIS (http://www.homephonechoices.co.uk/hpc_summary.asp?pid=230&kt=mse~cu) deal from Primus Home Phone Saver. It appears that for £7.99 a month I can get line rental plus free weekend and evening calls. ATM I am paying around £40 a month for line and weekend calls only. What do you think of this deal? :dunno:
-
It looks OK on the surface, Clive, but does have a 10.5p minimum charge and a 12 month contract. Mobile rates are higher than IDNet's. You really need to look at your call patterns and compare on a usage basis.
-
Oh I don't intend to replace my IDnet Rik. It's for elsewhere where I hardly use the phone or internet. IDNet would not be a viable option under those circumstances.
-
How is it that you're paying £40 per month currently, Clive? That seems quite a lot.
-
Sorry, I meant a quarter! My last bill was £46 and that's with BT of course. I need a BT line because of the door entry system and on top of that I pay £5.99 a month to Plusnet for an internet connection. The Primus deal seems almost too good to be true.
-
It does indeed. There must be a catch!
-
IDNet do a line only package for just over £11 per month, reduced to just over £10 per month if you pay annually. Might be worth considering for peace of mind.
-
And Simon can refer you, so that's £10 off on top. ;D
-
So what exactly is their cheapest deal? I would obviously stay with Plusnet because their internet deal is unbeatable. I'm also getting 6 meg with them.
-
http://www.idnet.net/solutions/home/phone/
Line only, one month contract but, if paid annually, £123.42pa. Refund given if you terminate early.
-
5 hours a month would be quite adequate. The anytime also includes Thailand which may prove very useful for my daughter-in-law.
-
Careful, Clive, she could cost you a packet. ;D
-
;D Yes, she could! But I think she usually types in a code to get cheap calls anyway. And she's heavily into Skype.
-
Better than debt. ;D
-
-
I've just checked my BT weekend calls only phone bill and it comes to £48. The IDNet Anytime lite would save me a tenner a month and allow me to make calls at any time I wish. I think I'll go ahead with it. Over to you Simon.
-
Would that be our Simon or Simon D? :)
-
Does the refer scheme apply to existing customers? I think you just need to tell them I've referred you, Clive, but I would donate any dividends to the BHF anyway. :)
-
That's fine by me Simon. Just tell me what you need to know and I will pm you with the information.
-
I don't think I need anything, Clive. As far as I know, you just need to tell them, when you place the order, that I am the referrer. Just give them my name, and they'll have my details.
Rik, is that correct?.
-
Yup, I don't know whether it applies to phones, though, but I don't see why not.
-
I missed the referral bit when I ordered it last time. I'll take more care on this one. It's a shame they can't match the Plusnet deal but nobody else can either.
-
Cross-subsidy I suspect, Clive.
-
I don't know Rik. BT own Plusnet so why can't they offer their own customers the same deal? :dunno:
-
They could, Clive.
-
So, I have determined to switch to IDNet Anytime Lite. Where do I say Simon has referred me? :dunno:
-
Easiest way is by phone, Clive.
-
Oh - a phone? How radical! ;D
-
I've spokedm to Miriam and she says I just have to put the referrer into the comments box online. I can be billed for both properties at the same time.
-
Life is simple. :)
-
So the deed is done! I can have both lines billed to the same direct debit.
-
Plus the broadband, of course. :)
-
They have always billed me separately for the BB.
-
Thanks, Clive. I shall pass the £10 on, as previously mentioned. :)
-
Provided Miriam passes it on to *you*.
-
Indeed! ;D
-
I've arranged for the delivery to be hijacked. ;D
-
:pmsl: I'm beginning to think it's all gone horribly wrong. After receiving an automated e-mail yesterday stating
Thank you very much for your telephone order.
A member of our team will contact you shortly.
I've heard nothing further. Still it's early days and there is no particular rush anyway.
-
Patience... :)
-
;D
-
Clive can't afford patience at his time of life! ;D
-
-
IDNet's automated emails do tend to have the most tenuous grasp of the matter in hand, though.
-
Wow, you sound just like a civil servant. ;D
-
This could prove to be the funniest thread of the year so far. :D
-
Well, you did prime us for it.
-
;D
-
I have a changeover date. 8-)
-
Have you ordered your frocks? :o:
-
Not until after I've had the op. ;D
