Hi All,
I've recently got a new LCD TV, but still have 2 speakers that were connected to my previous TV. They were connected through normal speaker cable.
I thought I could just plug the speakers into the back of the LCD or the back of my sky plus box - but it seems not. I have already connected the speaker wire to normal Phono plugs.
So... I think I need an amplifier box to connect the sky box too and then the tv. I only have 2 speakers - so not surround sound. How would I go about setting this up? and can anyone suggest a reasonable amplifier that'll do the job?
Back of sky box like

Back of LCD like

As you can all tell, I'm new to TV audio connections and stuff! Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks

Have you got a Hi Fi setup with Aux in ?
You can take the TV audio out (no 2) from the TV to the Aux in of your HI Fi and that should work fine, only stereo though.
The audio from your sky box would go through the scart lead to the tv and out through the TV audio out.

No Sandra, I don't have a hifi setup (with in easy reach of the tv at least).
Is there no way to connect the Audio Out on either the TV or Sky+ Box to the speakers directly?
Thanks

Not if there's no amp, DJ.

OK - any suggestions? Maybe just an amp or an amp/DVD home theatre?
Thanks

How long is a piece of string? It all depends what you want, DJ. If you're after just basic stereo, you might want to look at something like this (http://ws1.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=CAMB-A1V3-BLK), from Richer Sounds, or spend a bit more for a complete DVD Home Cinema package like this (http://ws1.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=PION-DCS333).
Obviously, these are just examples, and it really depends on what you want to spend, and what you want for your dosh.

You could actually buy a 2.1 pc speaker setup reasonably cheaply.
They are powered so you could run those directly from your sky box or from the tv and should give quite a good sound as they have the subwoofer.
You would need a 3.5mm stereo female to twin phono to plug into your sky box or tv.
The speakers that you currently have probably wont be an good though.

OK Cheers Simon and Sandra,
The hunt is on - will keep me busy today at least!
