The Roy Wood Band came to town tonight and played to a full house. He sung all his Move and Wizard hits and his inimitatble voice was just as it used to be back in the day. The only thing that spoilt the evening was a crap warm up guy who spent 40 minutes singing dirges. Roy Wood could have easily done the complete show but he chose not to. No mention of the warm up on the year long advertising campaign or on the tickets. >:(

Yes, the support acts can be relatively tiresome. Those are the opportunities I usually take to visit the bar.
-
Most of the audience did just that.
-
The only trouble with that is, people then have to keep getting up to go to the loo during the main act, which can be annoying if you keep having to move to let people in and out.
-
There was a half hour interval after the warm up act so there was plenty of time for the loo before the main act.

Best support act I ever saw was around 1985 at Preston Guild Hall supporting Meat Loaf. Had never heard of them and can't remember their name, but the audience wouldn't let them finish. They ended up doing two encores, the whole concert over ran by about a hour and it cost me about ten quid to get a taxi back to Chorley as the buses and trains had stopped for the night!

I should imagine that Meatloaf must have been a class act too!

Good job you saw Roy Wood when you did, Clive:

That's shocking news and I do feel sorry for him. But that warm up act was dire and I suppose people are trying to get compensation in one form or another.
