It's Friday and I'm feeling a strong barbecue urge. Luckily dmlandrum on Instructables made a tutorial for making your own BBQ sauce, which I'm sure will come in handy. There's also a nice DIY ketchup how-to for ensuring that your sauce is 100% homemade.

-- well I'm a bit late with this one, its been a lovely hot weekend here.
-
Very useful for next weekend Sam. The forecast is good. ;D
-
-
My scalp is still burnt from this weekend.
-
That's what caps are for! ;D
-
I know, I forgot to move my hat from our car to my BIL's car. :(
-
Oh I have at least 7 hats! ;D
-
I have two, but they were both sat in our car - along with my lue badge, which would have made parking a lot easier. :)
-
I have several hats, all of which I look bloody stupid in. :bawl:
-
Same here, but my scalp does appreciate them. :)
-
Does it not produce a hat line? No, seriously. :)
-
Depends on the brim - as I go for broad brim, no.
-
Me too. Perhaps that's why we look pillocks? ;D
-
Yes, but at least our skin is protected. :)
-
Well, our heads, anyway. :) I always get one brown arm. ;)
-
Lesley Thomas observed in one of his books that you could always tell driving instructors in summer as they had brown left arms.
-
I've got a smashing recipe for barbecue sauce in a book by Lynne Baxter. I'll post it later. I'd post it now, but I'm just taking a coffee break as I move into my kitchen - the final phase of work (bar splash-back tiling) was completed this afternoon.

Now all you have to do is find everything, Gill. ;)
-
All we want to know is, what gadgets have you got? ;D
-
Pans, knives, graters, gizmos - only a full list will do. :)
-
Ice cream maker
Food processor
Kenwood chef
Electric mincer
Electric slicer
Vacuum sealer
Sausage stuffer
Burger press
Two bread machines
Kettle!
Microwave oven
Spice grinder
Hand blender
Liquidiser
Pasta machine
Tortilla press
Digital scales
And those are just the gadgets that I've been able to locate so far - there's probably quite a few more stuck in cubby holes dotted all over the house! If I was to list stuff like cleavers, pans, home brew equipment etc, I'd be here all evening ;D .
-
We can wait, Gill. :)
-
No toaster, Gill? :horror:
-
I forgot to mention the toaster His Lordship decided he needed last week.
-
:)
An essential, Gill.
-
Anyone seen George Foreman? ;D
-
You mean, the George Foreman Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine (http://www.amazon.com/George-Foreman-Reducing-Grilling-Machine/dp/B000ALASSS)? ;D
-
You need the fat - it helps the flavour.
-
All I have is:
A bread machine
Kettle
Microwave oven
Liquidiser
Yup, that's it. ;D I could ditch the liquidiser too but Mrs Clive uses it when she makes soup. I prefer mine with the bits in!
-
I have:
Toaster
Coffee Maker
Electric Carving Knife
Electronic Scales
Kettle
Breadmaker
Tefal ActiFry
Breville Sandwich Toaster ;D
-
::)
Electronic scales never work. I went back to "proper" scales after a week. ;D
-
Mine seem to work fine. How would I tell if they weren't, anyway? ;D
-
Is your Actifry still working, Simon?
Incidentally, I found three more sets of scales tonight. Why I need four sets of scales is beyond me, but the cast iron scales are pretty and the digital ones are accurate and the 'weigh and add' scales are useful and... the other set...
...anyone want to buy a second hand set of titchy almost accurate scales?
;D
-
Yes, the Actifry is still working, Gill, but I don't use it all that often, as want it to last a bit longer than the last one!
-

_ _ _ _ ;D
-
Kenwood mixer
Magimix food processor
Toaster
Kettle
Electronic scales
Breadmaker
Microwave
... but lots of pans and knives. :)
-
I have lots of frying pans, because I keep burning them. Not overrun with knives, just the necessary.
-
A knife for every job here, Global, very good blades. :) Most of the pans are Le Creuset, with a few of a wedding present set of Prestige filling the gaps. Sue tends to use the chef's pans a lot, the saute pan, a large 30cm fry pan, a couple of smaller ones, a pasta pan and a couple of woks. Dinner parties see the lot in use.
-
His Lordship has just cleaned our brand new stainless steel sink with a Spontex non-scratch stainless steel scourer. Not for the first time has he found out that the marketing blurb doesn't match reality.
:bawl:
-
How bad is it, Gill?
-
The sink, or the injury?
-
;D
-
It's bad :( .
I've got some fine wet & dry that I use for woodwork - I'm contemplating using it on the sink to see if I can mitigate the damage.
-
Sorry to hear that. I'd make a claim against Spontex, take some photos before you go for the repair attempt. If it's a 'satin' finish, the other thing which might work is pumice powder.
-
There's no point in claiming against Spontex - the sink manufacturers clearly state that such products should not be used.
-
Ah. :(
-
Yes, the manufacturers always cover themselves. Fine wet and dry might just work and I doubt it could make it any worse. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
