Title: dwwin.exe error
Post by: Clive on February 08, 2003, 14:58
Once yesterday and twice today I have had a dwwin.exe error message which has shut down zone alarm and explorer.  I've performed a full virus scan but Norton's shows my machine is clean.  Does anyone know what this error message refers to?  On the last occasion I also had a second error message referring to oxc0000005.

This is what it is, Clive:

FILENAME: Dwwin.exe.
PROGRAM NAME: Dr. Watson.
DESCRIPTION: Microsoft application error-reporting tool, which gathers data about malfunctioning software and can send it to Microsoft.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Permit once to transmit this information.

Sounds like maybe you've blocked it with ZA?  Can't explain why it should want to transmit though.  Have you had any other problems?  Perhaps Norton Utilities might have an answer?

Nortons Utilities says that everything is OK.  It was the shutting down of ZA which bothered me because I know that viruses can cause that to happen.  Oh well, I shall play it by ear and see if it happens again.  Thanks Simon.
