The main thing I miss about ZoneAlarm is the traffic indicator that showed U/L-D/L activity. Now I'm using the Outpost firewall it's anybody's guess what's happening.
Is anyone aware of an alternative gizmo that sits in the system tray and does the same job with a broadband connection as the ZA indicator?

Why don't you go back to using ZA Rodders?

I'm very tempted, Clive. There are a number of advantages to using Outpost, as can be seen from this table (http://www.agnitum.com/php_scripts/compare.php), but they're not hugely significant. All I ever wanted out of life was a twinkly gizmo. If the only way to achieve it is to swap back, then it's no biggie. :)

Rodders, CHECK THIS OUT (http://www.reallyeffective.co.uk/tick_features.html)! It's free, does what you want and a whole lot more!! :D
-
That's a very informative table Rodders.

AFAIK Simon, Tick is purely for monitoring a DUN connection, whereas I need some twinklies for my 'always on' cable setup. Nice try though - keep 'em coming! :)

Have you checked your modem Options or Properties, Rodders? On my ADSL modem, there is an option to show traffic in the System Tray by way of up / down arrows.
-
It's a USB BB feed from a STB, Simon. They only modem hereabouts is a V90 that I need to use for a DUN connection to one of my ISP's. Unless I've missed something, I don't appear to have any modem properties for this connection.

Oh, well in that case, I'm stumped. The only thing I could suggest is searching somewhere like http://downloads.zdnet.co.uk/ for something suitable. :(

Just had another thought, Rodders, have you tried the Sygate Free Firewall? I used it myself for a while, and it definitely has traffic indicators, like ZA.
You can download it from HERE (http://soho.sygate.com/products/shield_ov.htm).
