Just installed one of These (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/233258) little beauties :o: with a 1TB as storage space :o
-
Nice one Terry! 8-)
-
All I can say is WOW..what a difference the speed is now on the hard drive  :o:
-
Hard drive speed is probably something you don't really notice, until you vastly improve it. :thumb: I'm a bit confused, though. That one seems to be a 60Gb drive, so have you got two of them, the other being 1Tb, Terry?
-
Correct Si, Operating system on the 60GB and storage etc on the 1Tb
-
Cool!
-
solid state is phenomenally fast.. still I'm limited by the speed that the computer can pipe the data... when you hit that, you are screwed no matter what.

:o very impressive. I really fancy ditching mechanical drives myself, my only reservation being i've read that the number of read / write functions the drives can do are limited and the drive will slow down and eventually die. What is the projected life of these SSD drives ?
-
also remember there is no way of getting data back if the hard drive gets messed up, its not written on surface anymore.
-
bit of discussion on read/writes on the eeeuser wiki: http://wiki.eeeuser.com/ssd_write_limit

The only data that is contained on the new SSD is the operating system as the rest is stored on the 1TB storage HD :leer:
-
perfect, so you get all the speed advantages of the SSD without quiet the worry...but the answer is simple, multiple backups.. offsite backups... maybe I'm just paranoid.

Ask Rik... ;)

Loaded win 7 home premium in under 10 mins :o:

:woot:
Mind you, 1Tb of data is a hell of a lot to lose if it fails.

Now who is being paranoid
Seriously though..if you go through life with a what IF attitude would you get in the car and drive off??????
