Title: .DLL problems
Post by: booch on November 17, 2004, 14:15
Logging on the other morning, got error stating .dll file could not be found, and needed to reload windows.
windows would not load and tube pc would be useless.
rebooted from secondary ide with old hard drive with win 98 os on it, to get machine running.
ran virus scan from service provider website on entire pc, and found no problems.
i had been running norton anti virus and zone alarm prior to problem, so a virus was unlikely.
reloaded win98se, then got errors with outlook express, zone alarm, norton, digital camera software, and i'm sure others i have not used yet, all pertaining to .dll files not being there.
is there a way to re-associate .dll files with programs looking for them, or perhaps a way to scan the registry and fix broken links?
       Thanks

I am not sure if its the same command in 98 as in XP but you could try typing sfc /scannow in the Start/Run box. If it says bad command try sfc.exe
You will need to have your 98 cd in the drive for it to repair any missing or corrupt files it finds  :)
