When I downloaded the latest updates for Windows 8.1 a icon appeared on my screen letting me know that the update for Windows 10 can be downloaded and installed on July 2015.
Register for the update now and it's free for W7 and 8.1 users for 1 year. ;D
-
Yes, now try getting rid of the icon. >:(
-
Why would I want to do that? :dunno:
-
He can't wait to get rid of the MS failure known as Windows 8 Simon.
-
But for those of us who don't want to upgrade, say from Windows 7, we are now stuck with unsolicited adware from Microsoft.
-
If it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm not being a guinea pig for another crap version of Windows.
-
This is just like sitting in the back row in a remedial class.
It's called progress and it is the wrong approach to turn your back on the future as you will have to upgrade at some point as they will not support windows 7 for ever so you might as well change and learn while it is free. :D
-
It'a not a question of not wanting to upgrade, 'just because', Den, as I'm perfectly happy to upgrade my 8.1 laptop, but my Windows 7 machine is already at least 7 years old, and has a few programs on it that I don't think will run on later versions, as they only just manage to run on Windows 7! These are programs I am used to, and have features and functions that later versions don't have, so I am keen to keep them up and running for as long as possible.
Besides, I should be able to decide for myself whether I want to upgrade my own machine or not, and if I choose not to, I shouldn't be left with Microsoft nagware cluttering up my system tray. There should be an option to say 'No thanks', and the icon goes away. When I choose to upgrade, it will be to a new machine which will have Windows 10 (WX?) on it anyway.
-
That is my position too. MS cannot be trusted to deliver the goods so I'll wait until I need a new machine with Win 10 already installed on it.
-
;D
-
One month to go ;D
-
This can only end badly.
-
Microsoft Windows:
Versions 1 & 2 experimental so forget about them.
3.1 and 3.11 for Workgroups - great operating systems.
95 - a disaster
98 - (second edition) - great operating system.
ME - a disaster
XP - great operating system
Vista - a disaster
7 - great operating system
8 - Only for the "Let's keep up with the Jones's" but generally considered a retrograde step and a poor version of Android.
10- Who knows - I'll let you be the Guinea Pigs!
-
If you really want to get rid of the windows 10 icon try this
I tried windows 10 on another laptop I have it doesn't seem that bad so far

The icon hasn't appeared on any of my machines so presumably my antivirus software must be doing its job. ;D
-
I had the icon as soon as I installed the last lot of updates, but a quick google gave me the solution that Davy posted above. It's gone now.
-
I only installed the May and June updates last week but have no icon. 8-)
-
What is all this fuss over a tiny icon in the bottom right of your screen. It takes no space and it is offering you a free update to a new operating system, it's not forcing you to change it is all about letting you have it downloaded ready for when you change your mind.
If Apple did this the world would be full of praise but not if it's Microsoft as they are imposing the new system on Windows users (for free). :dunno:
-
OK, Den, I'll come round and pop a non-removable sticker on your front door, saying I'll be there in a few weeks to paint your house in a colour of my own choice. You can opt out by jumping through a few hoops, but then I'll keep nagging you afterwards to have it done anyway. Will that be OK?
-
What is all this fuss over a tiny icon in the bottom right of your screen.
Oh - that icon!
-
::)
-
I thought it was just part of the decoration.
-
:sigh:
-
My point exactly Clive, it's so small that it does not upset me and will disappear on July 29th 2015 when I upgrade anyway. :)x
-
It's almost invisible on a 10" netbook.
-
My point exactly Clive, it's so small that it does not upset me and will disappear on July 29th 2015 when I upgrade anyway. :)x
As will your working version of Windows.
-
you might be surprised by Windows 10
The test model seems much better than 8 and on par with 7
i been testing it out for a week or more and it seems ok
Best thing Ive found so far is you have much more control over settings than with windows 8
-
Careful what you say about Windows 8 Davy. Den is the one person on the planet who actually likes it. ;D
-
I just believe in keeping up to date with the operating system so I did not jump from XP to W8.1 I took the journey via 98, Vista, 7 and 8. I will move up to 10 because of the excellent reviews other wise I would have been happy to stay with 8.1 but would not have considered going back to 7. :)
-
Careful what you say about Windows 8 Davy. Den is the one person on the planet who actually likes it. ;D
I tried to get 8.1 to work for me but I couldn't get any of the settings I wanted up front without going deep into windows which was a pain
So I deleted it and went back to xp pro
Finally I installed 7 on my laptop and it seemed ok so ran it in a dual boot with linux
-
18 days to go
-
From what Im reading about windows 10 the updates are only free from 2 to 4 years depending on which version is installed
thats not good windows 7 gets updates till 2017
I thinking that means updates for windows 7 will last longer than windows 10
-
And, presumably, Windows 8 upgrades will go on for longer than Windows 7. I knew there'd be a catch.
-
So that's how they intend to make their money!
-
Evidently
And sales of programs that were standard on other versions >:(
-
This all comes from an a article that is only some ones take on it and not based on fact. Microsoft are saying that the updates are free for the life of the product and as some people have to have the latest machine every two years then they will be paying for the latest version.

-
11 days :D
-
I got mine yesterday ;D
-
Show off! ;D
-
  :lol2:
-
Presumably you'll be getting Windows 10 tomorrow, Den, so do let us know how things go. If you can... :)x
-
I believe that it will be released in batches so it may not reach my machines for a few days. I will report back when it arrives.
-
:thumb:
-
i suppose we are back to old windows style
I had 5 windows security updates yesterday
But so far it seems to be working great and stable
so maybe windows finally got something right :thumb:
-
Let's hope so Davy otherwise we will all be heading for the asylum - even those of us who are not already there! ;D
-
Were all your programs and settings retained with the upgrade, Dave?
-
I didnt upgrade i was in on the testing and did a fresh download
Im not going to upgrade my windows 7 for about 6 months by then all the bugs will show and be worked out
According to posters on the testers forum it saved all settings and programs
I do know it is backward compatible back to xp pro
I have programs running from when I bought them for xp pro
-
That's good to know.
-
i didnt trust it enough to upgrade my windows 7 laptop yet
i didnt want to have to reinstall 7 and add my backup
So I put it on a 1gb proc and 1gb ram laptop I have and it works fine
It seems to be faster than previous windows versions on it
-
I installed it on my new Asus laptop and it retained all my settings. So far the two desktops have not been flagged up as ready so as the song goes "Maybe tomorrow" :D
-
i got the notice on my windows 7 laptop
But my desktops both run Linux
The one thing I noticed and liked windows 10 has settings and other small things that are very similar to Linux it also seems more secure than previous versions
-
I wasn't prompted to upgrade on my Windows 8.1 laptop tonight, so I guess it wasn't my turn.
-
Phew! What luck! :o:
-
No prompts on either of my desktops yet. :(
-
I do know it is backward compatible back to xp pro
I have programs running from when I bought them for xp pro
Won't somebody think of those of us who still use 3.1? :bawl:
-
Won't somebody think of those of us who still use 3.1? :bawl:
Most gave up issuing rocks and chisels with the computers once real keyboards came out sometime back ;D
-
-
You can be so cruel Davy! ;D
-
When I checked for updates it states that Windows 10 Pro upgrade failed with error 80240020. This is on both of my desktops. :dunno: Some say that it just means that it is not ready to download yet.
-
All up and running windows 10 ;)
-
I still haven't been prompted to upgrade. Guess they're rolling it out gradually so as not to cripple the networks.
-
All up and running windows 10 ;)
Show off! ;D
-
Still nothing here - perhaps this is an omen. ;D
-
Nothing on either desktops yet but if I check for updates it says "Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro" FAILED. :bawl:
-
This can only end badly. :o:
-
Not for Den - Windows 8 is faultless, so 10 can only be better! ;) ;D
-
In truth I know I will miss Windows 8.1 when it goes, I just believe in keeping up with the times and if Windows 10 is the future then so be it. ;D
-
I'm downloading Windows 10 Pro onto a usb stick as we speak and will use it for a backup or even to upgrade from 8 to 10 if Microsoft doesn't pull their finger out (on my back up computer first). :D
-
I'm in no rush. I don't really want to have to reinstall everything on the laptop, so I'm going to wait for the upgrade process to take it's course.
-
You can use it to upgrade just the same as waiting for Microsoft to declare that your time is nigh. :D If you upgrade you don't have to reinstall anything.
-
I'm just getting used to Windows 8.1! ;D
-
I still love 8.1 and find it strange that people hate it. I just hope I like 10 as much. ':|
-
Just updated my back up desktop using the Windows 10 Pro app off the USB stick. Completely perfect and simple to do, in fact I went for a shower while it was running. All my programs were kept intact the only problem I can find so far is that Edge is set as the default browser and it does not support extensions yet and therefore it will not run Norton. In fairness to Microsoft it informs you of this and suggests that you make IE the default browser for now. :D
-
:thumb:
-
Just updated my main computer so it's relearn time. So far everything looks good including QuickBooks which was my main concern. Watch this space. :)x
-
So let me get this clear in my head Den, you've upgraded and apart from it looking a bit different, everything works just the same as before? :dunno:
-
YES, it seems very easy to get one's head around and is much faster. Some of the thing I liked about W8.1 have gone and I'm sure W7 fans will love the start menu.
By downloading the app http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10 it is so simple to install, the only snag I had was it uninstalls the language pack in the 64bt version and then failed to start when requested. The cure for this was to start and press escape for basic mode then carry out the repair from there. It then carried on upgrading and completed with no further ado. This only happened on the 64bt version and not on either of my 32bt machines.
-
This is also worth a look http://www.pcworld.com/article/2953843/windows/how-to-install-windows-10-on-your-pc.html :D
-
Well, I've upgraded my Windows 8.1 laptop. Can't really see much to get excited about. The privacy settings need taming, though, unless you want M$ to track your every mouse click. ':|
-
One thing I found thats nice in windows 10
I completely crashed mine and wiped the drive and lost the product key
On full reinstall it applied the product key on its own
So evidently the key is stored on line or in updates
-
...or in the hidden partition on the hard drive.
-
Didn't have a hidden partition
Was trying for a dual boot and accidentally overwrote the entire partition
-
I'm noticing a significantly slower startup with Windows 10, compared to Windows 8.1. My laptop used to reach the login screen within about 20 seconds, now it's taking nearly 2 minutes. I wonder if this is because I did an upgrade, rather than a clean install, or whether this will improve as Win10 beds in?
-
You must have some programs kicking in on start up to take that long. Mine is running in about 20 secs and overall is much faster than 8 or 7.
-
Same programs as it was before, Den. It seems to be getting quicker now, so I guess it could still be applying updates on boot up.
-
The only problem I seem to have is that using Office 2010 (Outlook) I can receive emails but not send them. At first I thought it was BTs fault but I can send emails with Microsoft's Mail so I need to search deeper, any thoughts would be welcome. :D
-
first thing check the firewall to see if its blocking smtp
Second recheck smtp settings
Its a setting somewhere that allows the send is being blocked
Maybe Bitdefender
-
Glenn posted this on Idnetter and it worked fine
This works.
Click on the search icon, search on cmd when you find the application (Command Prompt) run as administrator (i.e. right click it and click run as administrator). You will then see a rectangular black window appear with folder> then type in sfc/scannow and sit back and wait (takes a while to run).
When finished type in exit. Then close outlook, restart and problem solve. Seems to have solved the problem for a number of people on the other thread too.
-
If I put my computer to sleep and then awake it the error window comes up and says E:\ The directory name is invalid. if I then click on OK it goes away. :dunno:
-
Have you got an E drive?
I'm having trouble finding Computer Management. The right click This Computer > Manage function doesn't seem to be working. :dunno:
-
Right click on the start icon and computer management is half way up. E drive is a usb slot for a removable drive. :D
-
Right clicking the Start button does nothing. Right clicking This PC in the Start Menu shows the Manage option, but clicking this produces an error, which I can't copy and paste because Paint seems to have disappeared as well! >:(
-
Right, I've managed to enable Paint, though goodness knows why they decided to hide it. ::)
This is the error I get when trying to use This PC > Manage...
-
I think drive E is the usb port on my Canon iP6700D Printer and there is not a updated driver for Windows 10 on the Canon site. :o:
-
Knowing that most of us on here are security conscious, I thought you might be interested in this article:

-
I'm glad I only use 10 on my non-essential laptop. That said, with the privacy settings tamed, it probably doesn't send any more data to Microsoft than any other Windows version.
-
I'm using Windows 10 on my main desktop for work and I must admit as much as I liked W8.1 Windows 10 is so smooth and very fast, so much so I am struggling to find something that I don't like. :D
-
Biggest load of crap Ive ever had the misfortune to download!! PC constantly freezes and nothing works. The new browser within only works when it feels like it and refuses to play any videos from links in facebook or you tube. Not ready for release is my opinion. Tried to revert back to Windows 7 only to get a message "Sorry unable to do that as files have been removed from your pc". What right have Microsoft got to remove files from my machine?
I have now ordered an OEM copy of Windows 7 to enable me to get back to an operating system that works. >:( :ack:
-
You would be better downloading Windows 10 on to a usb stick and do a clean install. I'm running it on three machines with no real problems at all.
-
Upgrades from Windows 7 seem to be more problematic than from Windows 8.1. I upgraded from 8.1, and after a period of settling in, it seems to be running fine now. Can't say I prefer it to 8.1, as there's not really that much difference.
-

:D
-
I wonder which one would be corrupted?
-
Thought I would try again, and this time did a complete new install. Seems to be working better, but no way can I get videos to work in Edge when I click on a link in Facebook or You Tube. Anyone here have success with this? >:(
-
Does it need to have Flash installed? :dunno:
-
Its got Flash installed with the browser and switched on-but wont work. There have been numerous questions on Microsoft Forums about this but so far Microsoft have not made any comment.
-
I run you tube videos fine within Edge.
-
Is Internet Explorer still an option, DG?
-
Internet Explorer will still be on there.
-
Is Internet Explorer still an option, DG?
Yes Explorer is there, but why should you have to use that when Edge is supposed to be all singing and all dancing? Videos also play in Chrome. Still not excited about Windows 10 !
-
Why use Chrome when IE is still there ? ;)
-
Why use Chrome when IE is still there ? ;)
Yes your right, but IE dosent always play videos, getting fed up with this probably go back to 7. Lifes too short to keep p**sing about with this ! >:( >:(
-
It seems this is a common issue with Edge - you might find something here to try, DG:

Very interesting link Simon, yes most of that applies to me. Tried the suggestions, but still no joy! Given up now gone back to Windows 7. Cant be bothered anymore with it !! >:( >:(
-
I can understand that. I'm still holding onto Windows 7 on my main machine.
-
I can understand that. I'm still holding onto Windows 7 on my main machine.
Good for you. Im relaxed now without the hassle. :thumb:
-
Gosh, I didn't realise he was that old. :rip:
-
:dunno:
-
:omg: How did that happen? Totally wrong thread, and even the wrong forum! I was responding to the death of Wes Craven!
-
Let's talk about your constant "before I was born" comments Simon. Is there anything you wish to confess? :o:
-
-
Welcome to the septuagenarian corner Simon.
-
:bawl:
-
Well I upgraded both my computers today to Windows 10 Threashhold 2. I would not have believed if I had not seen it with my own eyes but it's much faster and an amazing improvement yet again. I would urge everyone still using to take the leap while it is still free. :D
-
Is it a straightforward auto update, Den?
-
It took about 1.5 hours on the desktop and 50 mins on the laptop so you just sit back and make a coffee.
-
Well, I've just tried to update my laptop and it's saying 'This update cannot be installed. Click for details", but when I click for details, nothing happens. Useful. ::)
-
Try it again and see what happens. ;)
-
It's doing it now.
-
God, this is painfully slow! It's downloading at a rate of about 1% every 5 minutes, and has now been stuck on 97% for at least a quarter of an hour. It's not the connection, as everything else is working fine. Oh, just gone to 98%...
-
It's a great big update Simon but it's well worth the wait. Now go and make the coffee as you will be sitting there for a while. ;D
-
I've bought myself a Windows 10 book. It's a start!
-
It will be out of date already with the new update this week. ':|
-
This will be out of date by the time the upgrade has finished. Three and a half hours, and it's finally started the actual installation, but only up to 23%. I want to go to bed but can't turn the bloody thing off! >:(
-
We wait with baited breath!
-
It finally finished at about 12:30am, nearly 5 hours after I started it! Then it took another 10 minutes to boot up, while displaying a load of silly messages about how much better they've made it! It seems to be working fine now, but other than having to reset my font settings, I've not noticed any radical changes yet.
-
What a success story! Well done Simon. I shall stay in my bunker. 8-)
-
Well, this update took nearly 5 times as long as it did to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 in the first place, so I hate to think what the next major update will be like.
-
I have now removed Norton and all outside system managers (Iola) etc' and installed Bullguard and Addguard and allowed Defender to carry out back ground checks.
Windows 10 is running so smooth it's amazing. Norton was becoming so intrusive and telling me to reboot every time they updated anything and I got fed up with the adverts on every site I visited.
I would recommend Windows 10 as the best Windows ever just as Microsoft have claimed. ;D
-
I think Bullguard is a crazy choice Den because it comes out so badly in the tests. Most of the computers I've bought have had it preloaded because that's the only way they can sell it. I've always removed it and put something decent on such as Kaspersky. But I agree with your sentiments on Win 10 which is quite slick and fast. But you have to prevent it from bombarding you with adverts and leaking your information to anyone who is interested in it.
-
Have to agree, Bullguard has a pretty poor reputation. One fairly common issue with Windows 10 is that it won't allow you to turn off Windows Defender, and many security suites don't run well along side it.
-
Bullguard has been recommended by so many computer techs that I am in contact with that I had to give it a go and so far it seems to run well in the background.
Addguard has cut out all the adverts on the newspaper sites that I visit in fact it seems to have cut out all adverts.
Windows 10 will allow you to turn off Defender but you can set it up to run a background check as it will now run with other security packages.
I tried Kaspersky and it clashed with Windows 10 to the point were Kaspersky refunded my payment after admitting that they had a problem. :o:
-
Kaspersky clashed with Windows 10, probably because there was a conflict with Windows Defender, which, although it can be temporarily disabled, I believe it turns itself on again.
-
Strange, because Kaspersky works well on my Win 10. If it can go wrong, it always chooses my computers! :o:
-
I downloaded mine from the Computeractive website and my version guaranteed compatibility with Win 10. Did either of you try transferring older editions? :dunno:
-
No mine was the most up to date version at the time and Defender was turned off. I went back to Norton and found that it worked fine with W10. It's only recently that Norton started to hog resources and demand restarts.
Bullguard seems to run in the background and both my computers seem to run much faster.
-
I'm still using F-Secure, as I've had no troubles with it, but I do know that they did at one stage have a problem with Windows Defender not turning off. Maybe recent W10 updates have fixed or changed the issue.
-
I remember using F-Secure. I remember it conking out on me too.
-
Norton installed Norton Scan on my laptop today without my permission even though I have in-installed Norton and run Bullguard. ':|
-
AV software is a law unto itself. ::)
-
You probably need to use Norton's own uninstall tool to get rid of it fully, Den. I remember, even back in 2005 when I last used it, it was a nightmare to remove.
-
I always use iobit uninstaller www.iobit.com/en/advanceduninstaller.php but make sure you uncheck the crapware boxes for Advanced System Care etc.
-
I've just taken that off both my computers as I have removed all iobit programs as they were coming resource hogging. :D
-
Advanced System Care was a real resource hogger. But I don't allow the uninstaller to load at start up.
-
Major Windows 10 update predicted to arrive on April 11th and it's supposed to be the best ever by all the Mags'.
-
That probably also means the biggest ever. Might as well just leave the computer on overnight. ::)
-
The reviews so far are very good indeed. You can also defer the update for 3 days (this applies to all W10 updates in the future) so you can let other people take the chances with it. ;D
-
So, "We" will let you know when "we" are about to perform the upgrade, and give the mere parasite who owns the computer the option to defer it at that stage?
-
I would rather Microsoft keep updating W10 than just leave it be. At least that way we know that it is more secure as opposed to letting it become out of date and prone to attack by others .
Some of the improvements sound fantastic to be honest. ;)
-
Windows 10 big update now ready ;D
-
:peepsofa: These are worrying times! It's taken me nearly a year to recover my netbook from a Windows update. But it's working normally again now. It's still crap - sorry Rik. ;D
-
Never forgotten. :)
-
Indeed! 8-)
-
I updated my desktop overnight and all went well. Edge was already good but now it is amazing and everything seems quicker and smoother. ;D
-
What is this Edge you speak of Den? :o
-
I believe it's the Windows 10 default browser, Clive.
-
Yes, I've heard those rumours too.
-
and it's superb, you should try it again (or even try it). :D
At the moment I'm updating my laptop as well (just finished my VAT returns :( )
-
C'mon Den - you must be the only person on the planet that uses it. The only reason I have it on my computer is because it's impossible to delete. :o:
-
I use it because it is faster than Chrome, Firefox and IE10. I use it because it is constantly being updated and therefore safer. I use it because when you get used to it I rather like it and that is something I could never say about Chrome or Firefox. Try using it for a while instead of trying to delete it. :)x
-
I will say that Chrome is much better on Windows 10 than on Win 7 when it would often hog the entire resources of the computer. I've just clicked on Edge and it does have a lot of information on its home page.
-
If you update Windows 10 to the latest version Edge is even better. Just click on "All settings" and then "check for updates and you will find a link to download the latest version of W10. Be warned that it can take a few hours so I did mine over night.
-
I'm not mad enough to actually invoke a Windows Update Den. I prefer to be the last person on Earth to get the updates in order for Microsoft to sort out the errors. Last April's major update took out my Netbook if you remember! >:(
-

I'm with you Clive, i avoid all the MS updates like the plague. Even windows 10 on Mrs Bees computer which took a bit of doing. :P
I've had so much trouble with them in the past that no possible security worry can outweigh the potential problems thay could (and often do) cause.
I prefer to regularly update my AV and malware programs.
-
After singing the praises of Microsoft W10 and Edge at all times, yesterday I ran into a problem and could not open anything within Edge. After trying to find a cure on the net (using IE) I gave up and contacted Microsoft.
They set up a chat link straight away and tried to sort the problem out. After that failed I allowed a direct link to my computer and after about 1 hour he decided that there was some corruption within the files so he decided that the best way forward was to do a reinstall from the last major update this year.
He assured me that I would not lose any programs or settings and logged onto the Microsoft site. At this point he said it would be automatic from here on in and said I would be able to oversee it my self. So after 1.5hrs he logged off.
The update completed after a couple of hours and now the computer runs better than ever (well at least for a long time).
I must say that Microsoft and their tech guy were superb and I would not be frightened to contact them again. Thank you Microsoft for a very good free service. ;D

I've yet to receive the latest W10 upgrade, and can't say I'm in any rush for it.
-
We don't think it was an update that did it, it was something that corrupted the files later and a good clearing out sorted the problem.
-
"We"? Have you been infiltrated by Microsoft, Den? :leer:
-
No; but I agreed with the Tec Guy and he sorted it out. ;)

Hi everyone again, Today I'm having major problem with IE and Edge. I failed to be able to open sites in Edge most of the time but sometimes the would open. Then I found I was having a similar problem with IE. The strange thing was that I could access the sites (BBC.co.uk) with Chrome. I have tried most things including reinstalling Creaters Update.
I now find that I can open sites (Edge) by accessing via New Private Window.
Any help would be nice as I have been at this for a few hours now. By the way I am typing his using Edge with New Private Window active.

Not sure I can help, Den, as I haven't got the Creators Update yet, and don't use IE or Edge. For what it's worth, I've not had any problems opening sites on my Windows 10 laptop this evening, using my usual Sea Monkey browser.

My answer to everything is a reboot Den. 8-)

BBC website works for me in Chrome/Win 10 too.

I have fitted a new SSD Drive and reinstalled Windows 10 ::) I now have a very fast PC and having fun reinstalling programs. The only problem I seem to be having is with my music library (my old HD is now running as a backup drive with my settings still on there) iTunes has picked up my list of songs but can't find the songs themselves. I'm about to try again as I've now signed in the Microsoft and a lot of files and settings have appeared as if by magic. :thumb:

Still cant find my music files yet.

You need to make sure that the songs themselves are in the iTunes library that the current iTunes is using. One easy method is to open iTunes go to File > Add Files and Folders, then navigate to the folder where the songs are on the old drive, and add the entire folder. There is also a tick box somewhere in iTunes settings to make it copy all new files to the iTunes folder. Make sure that is ticked before you add the songs.

Since I upgraded to the latest version I can no longer find the Sync button. ::)
-
I now have 3 versions of all songs of which I can only play 1, the rest are just song folders with no music inside. I can't find away of deleting the empty folder other than one at a time.
I have also installed Musicbee and yesterday it loaded all the empty folders and today I uploaded all the correct folders and was able to automatically delete the duff folders, so that one works fine.
I hate Apple. ::) Any thought on deleting the library otherwise its a very long job doing it one at a time.

Can you not delete the empty folders from the iTunes folder, wherever it is stored? There must be a way to sort by folder size, in which case you can delete all the ones with 0 bytes.
It sounds to me like you've managed to mix up the old library with the new one. I think perhaps, if it was me, I'd delete the whole lot (making sure I had a backup first), then re-import the entire library from the old hard drive, thus creating a new library on the new drive.
