Mrs Clive accidentally downloaded Inbox.com the other day and it hijacked all her web browsers including Chrome, Firefox and IE. She tried uninstalling Inbox.com using control panel but it returned immediately in restart and system restore failed to remove it. I've just uninstalled Chrome in safe mode and downloaded it again and it seems to be fine now. I've also uninstalled Firefox and do not intend putting that back. Not sure what to do about IE because she will need that for Windows updates. I had a similar problem with a rogue browser called Conduit a few months back.

Inbox.com is a free mail service that I've been using occasionally for years. Never realised it came with software now. Does this help, Clive?

I've managed to eradicate it completely now Simon and it doesn't appear in control panel. When you clicked on a browser it would load up Inbox.com browser instead of Chrome or Firefox and it would direct you to its own search results which were pretty poor. Just like Conduit this is malware a google search will show that lots of people have been attacked by it. >:(

To get rid of all of it you might have to reinstall it and remove with this

Thanks Davy - it's a very nasty piece of malware.

CCcleaner will remove all races of it if its fully installed its a great program for removing programs from windows
If its partially removed it may not see it all

The method I used was to delete both Chrome and Firefox in safe mode, restart, and then reinstall Chrome. That worked a treat. There are lots of very convoluted methods of deleting it on the Internet but I think that one is the simplest.
