Owing to a problem with our hosts it has been impossible to log in to the forum since yesterday lunchtime. The issue now appears to have been resolved but please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. :)
-
I thought you said it was all Simon's fault. ;D
And thanks to everyone for letting me know.
Your not the only UK forum that had problems yesterday, I received this during the night, I am sorry to have to inform you all , that there has been an ongoing databse error in vBulletin which has gradually got worse.. To this end we have had to revert to the last good backup which is dated 13th April and we have setup at a different URL & server.
-
I thought you said it was all Simon's fault. ;D
-
... we didnt have quite so drastic problems, I dont think... and our last good backup was last night :-D - ep I'm paranoid! :-D
Still unsure what the actual issue was. We might get this again I guess....
-
We've had no word from our hosts as to what the cause of the problems was, but hopefully they've fixed it.
-
I thought it was Firefox playing up again. I have my username and password saved, but it kept telling me to enter a username! Glad everything's OK now. :)
-
Once again, many apologies for lack if access to the forum last night. This was due to our hosts Webfusion (Pipex) letting us down.
-
The forum has been refusing to let me post this afternoon. I didn't know you'd installed a good taste filter. ;)
-
Yes, to comply with the trade description act, we have now changed our name to Parttime-Pals - the morning forum.
-
Good morning Clive
-
and so it works again... ;D
-
If it goes down again today, there'll be trouble. >:(
-
Good morning Clive
I will be more impressed if you manage to say "good evening" Terry. ;D
-
It's nice to be able to join the party. Btw, wouldn't logging in be a forum software or a database issue?
-
its a database problem... on our hosts machine.
-
Interestingly, reply #7 didn't appear to post at the time.
-
I suppose it had to go through the filtering system first. ;) ;D
-
Triple filtered for smoothness. :)
-
Make the most of the time we have, folks, it may not last! ::)
-
It never does. ;D :scoot:
-
Well at least I can post today, I ended up watching tele last night. I hadn't heard of Louis Theroux, but the episode was very interesting, in not disturbing. The Most Hated Family In America. Anyone seen it?
-
It was shown here last year I think MB.
Was it the religous nutters one ?
Theyre not only misguided but dangerous too. ::)
-
Yep Sandra, picketing funerals of US soldiers killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. These people are seriously scarey.

It's already playing up and claiming I've taken too long to make the post. :bawl:
-
argh
-
Perhaps if we keep going, it will stop it breaking!
-
That theory didn't work Simon! >:(
-
No. :( OTOH, you've just made your 28000th post, Clive. Congratulations. ;D
-
Good heavens Rik! I'm amazed! Anyway, I think we might be back in business again now. Webfusion has wound the clockwork motor up again. :D
-
I've just received this response from WebFusion:
Dear Simon,
Thank you for your support request on the 6th of May 2008.
Your issue has now been resolved.
It appears that the PHP on the server was not closing the processes correctly.
Thank you for your patience.
Please let us know if this happens again.
No? Me neither. :dunno: They also seem to have forgotten that my original support request was on Sat 3rd May.
-
Internet services lol
good service lol
-
Thank you for your support request on the 6th of May 2008.
They obviously weren't there to read it! I've seen a rogue PHP process slow us down too, never to a halt, though. It's usually cleared in minutes.
-
yes, I've never seen PHP cause this sort of issue.
-
Once again, we have to apologise for another outage this evening, which now appears to have been remedied for the time being. We are hoping to move servers soon, which should eradicate this issue once and for all.
-
... argh.

can I suggest moving the one you are on to the bottom of a tall building...........from the top the quickest way possible ;D
-
That's what should be happening, Baz. What was even funnier was, the guy seemed to be blaming me for it, saying we should upgrade our package!! Er, hello?? And we pay them for what, exactly??
-
send him with it....might make it reach the bottom quicker :o:
-
There is nothing worse than bad service. Webfusion are having a laugh!
-
... tis probably worse because they are reading this :-D
-
Actually, I can't fault the guy tonight, but didn't catch his name. At least he got us working again straight away, and was honest about the cause of the problems. I just hope he's on all weekend! ;D
-
Yet more apologies for last nights outage. Again this was caused by Webfusion's old and creaky server which they seem unable to replace. I think we must be in line for a refund!
-
:dreamon: :)x
-
I'm about todo some work on the system, so we will be offline for a while.
-
we will be offline for a while.
Webfusion will help you out Sam. ;D
-
NEVER AGAIN.
-
:smirks:
-
We've escaped! :danceban: :danceban: :danceban: :danceban: :danceban: :danceban: :danceban: :danceban:
Well done, Sam!!
-
The white 'sponsored by' doesn't work too well at the bottom of the screen... Otherwise, nice job. :)
-
yeah, I'm sure I removed it on my test board... hmmm, will have to look into it
-
i'm relieved that you posted... allows me to stop stressing that no one else can get here!
-
Oh, I'm definitely here, Sam. Having done the same move with Netters, I know just how you feel. :)
-
So the link from the email I got for the ebay thread, didn't work properly because of the forum, or is it my computer? The link took me to the main page as a visitor, and I had to sign in. :dunno:
-
The cookie will have changed with the move, MB, I suspect most people will need to sign in again.
-
Thanks Rik, I hadn't read the other thread, it all makes sense now. :)
-
Some links may not work fully at the moment. We still have some fine tuning to carry out, but the main issue was to move the forum from the failing server, so that people had reliable access.
-
I'll probably do those tomorrow... had my girlfriends birthday to worry about most of today (got freedom to make the change this morning whilst she was doing some work) and gardening ;D
-
apart from the uglyness on the bottom :o :o the rest should now be fixed...
-
You changed that bloody logo again! ;D Fixed now. It should be palsidnetlogoblk.png
-
The Recent tab still doesn't work, Sam.
-
Does now. ;)
