help, can anyone suggest any easy repair for my very slow pc, i'm just surfing on my usual websites and it's so painfully slow for some reason.....
-
Is it the PC that's slow or your internet connection.
If it's the PC, can you give us a basic spec, eg processor & speed, memory, hard drive & OS.
If it's the latter, what is your downstream sync speed, noise margin & attenuation. Can you do a BT speed test at http://test.speedtester.bt.com:50301/
-
also have you recently installed any new software / updates...
-
If Rik's speedtester link doesn't work, you might want to try it without the numbers at the end, as I think they are for IDNet customers.

had no luck with that speedtest but i managed this one via AOL keyword if it helps
download 0.52mb
AOLaverage 2.5mb
upload 0.11mb
AOL average 0.3mb
ps i'm afraid this means little to me !!!

How about your router/modem stats?

AMD athlon tm 64 processor 3000+
512 mb DDR
160 GB hard drive
hope this helps...............

No, I still need the downstream attenuation, noise margin and sync speed from the Netgear.

rik where / how will i find this info ?

Log into the router interface, usually 192.168.0.1 for Netgears. Click on the stats button at the bottom of the page.

What Rik said, and while you're thinking about that, have you done an anti virus / spyware sweep, and which security software do you use, KRO?
