My exchange is being upgraded later this month to ADSL2+. Any thought on this, is it a good move to go across, do I have a choice and what speed should I expect?
My readings from my router are
Current DSL Connection:
Down Up
Rate: 7616 kbs 448 kbs
Max Rate: 6200 kbs 980 kbs
Noise Margin: 4.0 dB 23.0 dB
Attenuation: 41.3 dB 26.0 dB
Output Power: 19.7 dBm 11.9 dBm
Protocol: G.DMT Annex A
Channel: Interleaved
DSLAM Vendor Information Country: {3840} Vendor: {ALCB} Specific: {0 }
ATM PVC: 0/38
Rate Cap: 6200 kbs
Attenuation @ 300kHz: 41.3 dB
Uncanceled Echo: -12.4 dB Ok
VCXO Frequency Offset: 0.0 ppm Ok
Final Receive Gain: 20.5 dB Ok
Excessive Impulse Noise: 0 Ok
I usually achieve round about 6000kbs.

It should be good news, I'd have though - but depends on how botched the job is done.

Go for it, Den. No-one can predict the speed accurately, so try it and see. If it doesn't work, you can be re-modulated back to ADSL, but retain the higher bandwidth allowance.

Tuesday 3rd April is the big day.
Question: Will my router just re-sync or will I have to re-boot. How long should it take to stabilise and give me a true picture of what the future holds?
-
No good asking me, I'm still on Max. :)
Good luck, though, Den, hope it all goes OK. :thumb:

It will re-sync, Den. Mine took about a week to stabilise.
-
Still the same at the moment
-
It involves wiring work at the exchange, Den, so can take till 6pm.
-
It's changed over (about 3.30)
New sync: 8525mb/s
Old down: 5.94mb/s Old Up: 0.38mb/s
New down: 7.57mb/s New Up: 0.73mb/s
and thats after the 1st hour. ;D
-
Looking good. :)

So far...

Sync has been on 8468 for a few days now, 10 days will be up on Friday. Speed tonight 7.51mbps down and 0.89mbps up. :thumb:
