I'd better start looking over my shoulder! ;D 5000 posts in one month is amazing! This month also sets a record number of topics at 437 so far.

You have a Welsh ally here, Den. ;)
-

Is the Welsh Tafia growing again, I thought that we had reduced their membership on here :dunno:
-
I hope so. I've always liked the Welsh :) .
-
Den's only just Welsh... ;)
-
So, his local sheep see safe? :)x
-
See = are! :bawl:
-
This mobile phone of yours is amusing Simon. ;D
-
It says what it wants to say, Clive, not what I type. ;D
-
So, his local sheep see safe? :)x
Or are they broken? :)
-
:sigh:

You need Android si.
Doesn't seem to matter if u make typos it still offers u the right word.
First attempt at posting from it so go easy on me being an android noob.
-
Mine offers me words, but it's semi-predictive text (two characters per key), so it doesn't always offer the right word, and I don't notice till I've posted, and then can't edit with the wap forum interface. :)
So, you find it good, then?
-
Yup and i'm almost as quick as i was at texting with the old fone after just a few tries.
Anyone want to buy a couple of netbooks
-
:thumb: But you are a Google fan. ;)
-
:thumb: But you are a Google fan. ;)
Not as much as you think Si but i think google are pushing others to try better in so many ways which is good for all
-
This post is brought to you by Google sponsorship...
-
I think your a bit of a google fan on the quiet too Sam :o:
-
I'd have to find a way to hack it, to get rid of the Google stuff. :)x
-
It says what it wants to say, Clive, not what I type. ;D
I'm sure we will learn to translate given time! ;D
-
Rik has. ;D
-
I've noticed! But I suspect he uses a computer program to do it for him.
-
You obviously don't know him! ;D
-
I think your a bit of a google fan on the quiet too Sam :o:
Oh I'm a massive google fan (just suspicious) - I have my calendar, rss reader and email through them these days (simpler than distributed stuff given I'm on the move all the time).
Oh and Clive - even the FAS now have a google calendar (http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=s15fob9cvfu7ji74lul3lnnbps%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=Europe/London)
-
So I see! Who edits that Sam? Or can any member society break into it?

me - its generated from the society diary

That's useful to know! I hadn't realised you were still involved with the FAS.
-
That's useful to know! I hadn't realised you were still involved with the FAS.
Well I was asked by certain people to stay involved, so they offered me the job of website manager (slowly changing things)

Great news Simon...
-
We've dropped off a bit this month though! :bawl:
-
It so cold..what do you expect Simon ;D ;D ;D
-
Warm chestnuts? :o:
-
:ack:
-
Can't say I've ever tried them. :dunno:
-
I used to have them as a kid at Christmas, there would be vendors in Oxford Street selling them when we went to see the Selfridge's window display. Simpler, more innocent, but happier times.
-
I love them Simon
-
A bit chewy Simon. :)
-
Is he Clive ? I hadnt noticed ;D :santa:
-
-
:shh:

Mary had a little Lamb............blah blah blah..
And Clive was always there in its shadow
-
You are a poet although you don't know it.
And if you take time it might rhyme. ;D
-
I appreciate the folks here are all erudite Simon ;D
No it' is not a type of glue
-
Are you saying we're stuck up, David? ;D
-
I was just calling didnt you hear me I shouted "You whoo" ;D
I have great respect for glue Simon..thats not to be sniffed at
-
Now I know why you stick around here. ;D
-
You are a poet although you don't know it.
And if you take time it might rhyme. ;D
He'd be a bard,
If it wasn't so hard.
So instead he'll persist,
And be a lyricist.

Most supermarkets sell chestnuts for roasting or making stuffings at this time of year Simon.
I have been getting a bag or two each week for the last 4 or 5 weeks. They have dropped to about their cheapest for this year last week in Morrisons, they started off a few weeks back at £2 per bag of 300gms but Asda had them at 2 bags for £3. Morrisons has dropped them now to 2 bags for £2.
If you decide to give them a try you need to cut through the outer shell, more like a hard skin than a normal nut shell, on one side, make quite a large cross. Then place on a baking tray in the oven at around 200/220c for up to 15 minutes. A little water in the tray helps to steam them open a little more than if totally dry. If you dont cut them they explode in the oven as I found out when I did them the first time about 10 years back :o:
Theyre very hot when they come out of the oven but I try and peel them as soon as I can handle them as the edible bit inside never seems too hot to eat and theyre so much nicer when hot than cold :)
-
I remember buying them on street corners once straight from the brazier (if that's what its called) burnt but really nice :santa:
-
Chestnuts are altogether too much trouble.
-
This is true Gillie.leave them alone for 5 minutes and they just start a fight or argument.they get right on your nearves ;D
-
Should we make all posts in Iambic pentameter today? ;D
-
No no no,the last time I did that I got a ticket ;D
-
Stalls or circle?
-
Chestnuts are altogether too much trouble.
I could not agree with you more Gill. And, after all that effort I think they are indigestible anyway!
-
Chestnut trees are nice, though. They make lovely furniture too.
-
Ikeanot hear you Gillie ;D
-
Do you like yew, Gill. I've always loved its honey tones.
-
:)x what about my tones....honey :)x
-
:groan:
You're more maple, David. ;)
-
I could not agree with you more Gill. And, after all that effort I think they are indigestible anyway!
A couple of minutes cutting a cross in each one then bunging them in the oven for 15 minutes isnt that hard to do. Never heard anyone saying that they were indigestible Clive.
-
Probably just me then Sandra.
