Title: Force Outlook Express 6 to ask for ID on startup
Post by: chorleydave on July 08, 2003, 22:58
Although I only use Internet Explorer to download Windows updates, I recently upgraded from IE5 to IE6.  I regreted my decision immediately.  I have multiple Identities set up in Outlook Express and OE5 gave the option of automatically asking which ID you wanted to load every time the program started.  OE6 does not have this.  Instead, you have to "Exit and Logoff Identity"  every time you want to close the program, if you want to keep your password protected Identity  private, otherwise it logs on the the ID you last used.  This meant that if I forgot to  "Exit and Logoff Identity" my son (or anyone else) could read my mail.  Typically, Microsoft desribe this flaw as a "feature".

However, I have just found a way to force OE6 to ask for an ID every time the program starts.  Anyone else who does not appreciate the "feature" that Microsoft built in to OE6, have a look at

I used the first method and it's working perfectly.
