Blekko looks like a very good search engine.

Thanks Gill. At the moment I'm using Chrome on this computer whereas I use Avant at home. Mrs Clive uses Firefox on her laptop but I'm not too keen. Blekko looks quite interesting and I would certainly give it a whirl on this machine.

Yup, I checked on that too! ;D

It's not a browser, Clive, just a search engine. :)
-
Y...y..you mean there is an alternative to GOOGLE?? :o Oh thanks for pointing that out Simon.
-
:arf:
-
not a good alternative
-
Why?
-
sorry, i should have added... yet.
-
It sounds as if you've got some means of evaluating search engines, Sam. What is it?
-
i was just searching for obscure pages.
Also simply it works on hashtags... will take ages for them to properly index.
-
However it works, if it grows up to be an alternative to Google, I shall be very happy. I'm fed up with Google using my search queries to target advertising at me. It's sinister.
-
What with the street maps data theft issue, it seems Google are less trustworthy than ever now.
-
If that's possible.
-
I personally don't care about the adverts, if I cared I'd just block them. I don't even see them cause why would I look there. Their ads aren't in your face and lets be honest they are running a business and thus have to make money somewhere.
An alternative however, is never a bad thing - competition forces people to make better services.
...as for the street maps issue, well at least they admitted it - I bet you wouldn't get other companies doing that.
-
Yeah, but I think it was forced out of them, Sam. ;)

Serious question, do you know why Chrome isn't on Android phones? :dunno:
-
The web browser available in Android is based on the open-source WebKit layout engine, coupled with Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine. The browser scores a 93/100 on the Acid3 Test.
