Due to a fairly major spam attack on the forum this morning, we felt it was time to introduce a new member of staff, who can deal with such matters, and anything else arising, during times when the existing staff team are less available.
Would you please, therefore, join me in congratulating Rik in his new role as Global Moderator. :thumb:
Rik has many years of forum experience, and we know he will be a great addition to the team on PC Pals.
:congrats: Rik, and thanks for agreeing to join the PC Pals team!
-
Welcome Rik, thanks for coming in to help us make pals the best forum out there :)
-
I'll do my best, Sandra. ;D Glad to be onboard - now if someone could just point me at the ban button, I'll get started.
-
Clive will get a shock when he returns! :)x
-
Especially if I tell him about the stubble.
-
:bawl:
-
Be careful with that ban button Rik, when I first became a mod I noticed a suspicous looking character logged on, whose name I didnt know and whose status said he was a mod :dunno:
I thought that I had best ban him as someone had managed to hack into the forum and given themselves mod status in order to mess things up. I was very pleased with myself for protecting the forum and spotting the naughty guy so quickly.
Unfortunately Sean, the forum admin at the time, didnt appreciate it at all. He was a little peeved to say the least as it was an account hed created for himself, and given mod status to, in order for him to be able to log in as a moderator so he could check what the mods could access against what the admin could.
As I had banned the IP address along with the username he couldnt even log in as admin to sort it out, until he got home from work and logged in with a different IP address ;D
-
I remember it well. :)x
-
I can better than, Sandra, I managed to lock myself out. ;D
-
Yes, and some idiot let him back in. ;D
-
It was you, wasn't it? ;D
-
Probably! ;D
-
Congrats Rik
Im sure you can handle it
Just remember if they dont have cookies they cant post lol
-
Food, did someone mention food? ;D
Thanks, Davy.

So you got the sheep in the post then? Wasn't sure if Canada Post would sort it, but it was only $20 plus some velcro.

Thanks, Dave. :)

Congratulations Rik  well deserved........may your onions never get pickled
-
Not allowed them either. Thanks, David.
-
You're not allowed pickles, or onions?
-
Pickles. High in salt. :(
-
Must admit, I could live without pickles. Hate piccalilli, and only ever have Branston in a Ploughman's.
-
I had a passion for pickled onions over the past year. :(

EZpc :woot:
-
Indeed! I wonder what happened to him?
-
Probably festering under a stone somewhere! :)
-
That would be Keith Richards then. :)

We adore pickles but not the junk that's produced commercially. I've made approximately 50lbs of spicy runner bean relish this year, 12lbs of mango chutney and I'm steeling myself to make some apple and date chutney. I once found a jar of apple and date chutney that was five years old and it had matured into the most special pickle I've ever tasted.
Why can't you eat pickles, Rik? I've got loads of recipes and I might be able to find something suitable. My pickles don't have a high salt content.
-
You may have a new best friend, Gill. ;)

It's the salt levels in commercial products, Gill. So, any recipes gratefully received.

That's getting Sue to rush off and make them, Sam. :)

If only :) . I did supply a local farm shop once upon a time, though.
We just had a bumper crop from our runner beans this year and His Lordship adores runner bean relish, so I ended up with the task.

:congrats: Rik and hope you enjoy your position. :thumb:
-
Thanks, Cam.

:congrats: Rik and hope you enjoy your position. :thumb:
and if your not quite comfortable with it Rik, try leaning back on your right shoulder whilst raising your left leg slightly. Obviously you need to be lying down, and in the company of the opposite sex for the best results. :)x
Seriously though, well deserved
-
Nice to hear from you, Tony. :thumb:
-
Thanks bro, I know I don't pop in as much as I should :(
-
It's not compulsory, mate (although, we think it should be!), just nice when you do. :)
-
Yes, always good to see you Bro! ;D
-
Congratulations, Rik, I've only just noticed you've joined the staff over here.
I figured I could do with some light relief, Ray. ;)

Get a netbook, you know you want one (that works).
-
I know. :)
-
I'd be lost without mine, tbh.
-
After Christmas, maybe. :)
-
Couldn't you get XP on the one you have?
-
To be honest, I doubt it's up to the job.
-
It's an Atom, 1GB isn't it?
-
Not sure about Atom. It's an Asus EeePC.
-
Atom's the processor, I think all netbooks are based on it.
-

I'm not sure if they all are - but the vast majority are - really is so low powered.
-
Just checked the Asus site, it is the Atom.
-
I liked the asus, too small for me though - my sister loves the thing. I was actually pretty tempted with their low powered desktop machine - reckon it could be run of a solar panel too - great for an observatory...
-
If you make the solar panel the same size as the dish, Sam, you could run a Kray. ;D

-
They are, but you could roast them in hell. ;D
-
I thought they were back in Spandau Ballet? ;D
-
There was me thinking it was a prison.
-
Some of their songs were criminal. ;D
-
Some??
-
Through The Barricades was good, and, err...
-
I only know one, it isn't that and I can't remember what it's called. ;D
-
Probably True.
-
Maybe. ;D
-
This is where you're hiding, Rik. (https://www.pc-pals.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.smiliegenerator.de%2Fs31%2Fsmilies-21813.png&hash=146561575a8851dfe2b3dc674a5ca56bf438de7e)
You pair a like a couple of old sweetie wifes. ;)
-
I know, but he's crap at ironing. ;D
-
You mean he even attempts ironing?
:o
Come here, Rik - I've got a great big heap of ironing and I'm willing to train you ;D .
-
;D
So's Sue, but I've resisted the invitation so far. :)
