Title: webpage done but with errors
Post by: maria9547 on January 04, 2003, 21:15
???  Sometimes when browsing, a link doesn't work or I get a message on the bottom left of my taskbar (?) that the page is done but with errors, or javascript error. Is this me or the website?  I am running Win2000 and I. E. 6.0.  I tried to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer but still get the same results, off and on.

Hiya Maria, welcome to the zoo!  ;)

Regarding your problem, if it's only once in a while that it happens, then it's probably just a bit of dodgy coding on the site you're visiting.  If it happens a lot, with more professionally designed sites, we've got a problem.

1.  Have a look in Tools -> Internet options -> Advanced.

2.  Now look at the list of checkboxes.  Is 'Display a notification about every script error' ticked?  If it is, then untick it and you should have an easier life.   :)

Please keep us posted, because I'm making this up as I go along.   ::)

I sometimes get this behaviour when the pop-up window killer that I use (EMS Free Surfer) does its stuff.

If you don't have a pop-up killer running, it's possible that you are having connection problems.

Can you tell us a little about how you connect to the net (e.g. dial-up or ADSL, modem type etc)

Hi, I'm no expert on this either, but I have had this when I've gone into the area Rodders mentioned and disabled certain Java functions for security reasons. Pages using these Java codes then show an error message.

Thanks everyone.  I looked for that box to uncheck and it was already unchecked in the Advanced section of Options.  I am connected to the internet by DSL and I do run AdSubtract for all those popups.   Like you said, maybe its the website itself.  Hope so.
Thanks again and wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!  (Well, better late than never right?)

Thanks very much Maria, and the same to you ... hope its a good one for you  :-*

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you are having big problems viewing web sites.  :)
