dont know if its just me but the forum seems to take longer to load recently and on a page refresh too
-
Yes, there is a problem with our hosts (Pipex) but they are (allegedly) working hard to resolve the issue.
-
It still seems sluggish this morning, but we're hoping things improve throughout the day.
-
ok thanks guys
-
I thought it was our ISP, our connection is being "throttled", no more downloading for while. :o:
-
The slowness could be, although I think that's affecting us all, but the database error is our server.
-
Certainly fixed now! ;D
-
It does seem faster, even on my phone!
-
It is here too, yesterday I was seeing 30 seconds plus to load a page.
-
I did phone Pipex, and they denied any problems, but I guess they must have given something a kick.

but I guess they must have given something a kick.
When I was a tech in the television industry, we referred to that as a "technical tap", amazingly effective. ;D
-
yep faster now.......well done pipex :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

  slowed down again today
-
Yeah, I know. :aarrgh:
-
About 5 seconds to load a page...
-
It's speeded up again now - we did have a whole load of 'Guests' (bots) a while ago, most of whom have now buggered off, so that may have had something to do with it. I've also just optimised the tables, which I think has more of a placebo effect than anything, but maybe it helped.
-
I know the placebo effect well. Wish we could kill bots though. :(
-
Excuse my ignorance (no comments please), but what are bots?
-
Little automated search engines, Kate, usually looking for security holes in which to post spam and the like. :( Fortunately, SMF seem to be fairly immune to them, but they can still cause problems if they arrive en masse.
-
A little like relatives at Christmas........ ;D
Thanks Simon.

Search engines such as google use them to sift and catalogue the information they spew up when you instigate a web search.
