Post by: Simon on May 10, 2019, 00:10
Comedian Freddie Starr has died at the age of 76, according to reports.

The entertainer, who became a household name after rising to fame in the 1970s, is said to have been found dead by a carer at his Spanish home.

A post on a Facebook page called Freddie Starr Official said: "This is Freddie's manager. Just to confirm Freddie has passed away. RIP to our greatest comedian of all time."

Oh dear, I hope it wasn't anything serious.

He was very funny but there was a sinister side to him as well.  If there's an afterlife, I suspect he and his close friend Jimmy Savile could well be exchanging anecdotes now.

I met him in the early 70s. We were both on the same bill at a night club in Chester and he was the headline act with his group (the next time we played there we were the headline act).

Very funny man and so nice off stage. I certainly did not see a sinister side to him but then again girls would throw themselves at anybody good looking on the stage.

Do tell, Den.  Would I recognise your act?

You would not have known us but we were very popular on the Club Circuit in Manchester, Liverpool and Wales and we had the same manager as Russ Abbot.

Sounds like Manchester United before Alex Ferguson.
