Title: Broadbanders check your Exchange Bandwidth
Post by: Tony on February 27, 2004, 23:55
This facility allows you to view the BT capacity report for your local exchange.

Well my exchange is "Amber" already, it just got ADSL enabled end of November, and it's getting clogged at peak times already. going by the report. But BT are on the case, and will be installing more capacity ::)

Same for me too Tony  :(

connected to the Nelson exchange.

      Status: Amber
(Code 7:2)

The Capacity Report shows that some of the Virtual circuits to your local exchange are close capacity at peak times. During peak times you may notice a drop in the speed of your ADSL connection. BT will be in the process of planning an upgrade in capacity to your exchange and are aware of the issue.

There's a poor bugger "tobydog27" on RED he was complaining to NDO about his connection speeds, he was getting right crappers poor sod.

see here  (http://www.ndousers.com/cgi-bin/cutecast.pl?session=gKb2RNflY7Wdtjp2HCIgHVd2Sa&forum=1&thread=385)

It's a good thing this update site, as it can help pinpoint were the prob lies, BT Exchange, your ISP, or your setup.

My speeds are fine, but I have to say NDO Tech Support are very customer focused.

I must admit, my connection always seems to slow down around 6pm.  Let's hope this isn't the start of a downhill slide.

Right playmates,

cast your mind back a year or two, to when BT had blown all their shareholder value. By going on ill judged buying/expansion sprees in Europe and the USA, ending up virtually potless.

Anyway whilst they were chucking money away overseas, they could have been ADSL enabling the UK, but they said there was not the demand. And when they finally retreated from the US and Europe, and on realising ADSL was a growth market. They did not have the resources to roll out Broadband in antisipation of the orders coming in the back of a proven avaliable technology. So we all had to go begging  ........and here we are getting clogged..........It does not fill you with confidence now does it, when you are at the mercy of BT Business Planning Decisions.

Just imagine Ford's business stratergy being on a par with BT's ......yes we can build a car .......yes we realise you might want to buy one, and would like to test drive it  ........but we will only build one if you say you will want one......it's expensive building cars you know  ::)
