Title: USB, which do i need male or female
Post by: geordie77 on April 29, 2004, 23:12
I have a bluetooth mobile and also a palm Tungsten E.  The palm does not have bluetooth and as it is a tungsten E the only port it has is a small usb port. I have purchased a bluetooth dongle but fits a normal USB.  I am looking on the net for an adapter to convert the USB to the small USB but i am unsure if I want female to male?

No idea what male and female means in computer terms.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Technically speaking it's quite easy to remember which are male and which are female.

Male plugs stick into things while the female plugs accept things :)

For a size adaptor you would need a female socket on one end (to accept the male plug) and then a smaller male plug on the other side - to stick into the appliance.

my "female" doesn't accept anything unless a card and an apology is issued first.  :o
