Hi
My Norton filewall is showing an attempted attack by this
Trojan about 30 times an hour. This only started today.
I cannot believe that anyone is trying this so regularly.
The firewall is showing different addresses most times.
If anyone could help I would be grateful, perhaps this subject
has come up before. Is it really an attack attempt or do I have
a problem. The only change since the attacks began was a download
of a Microsoft IE6 patch for Windows ME.

Also a Windows Media player update.

As long as it's blocking them, you don't have anything to worry about, JK, unless they are outgoing[/b] attempts being blocked, then you may have a problem. The alerts are just the firewall telling you it's working.
The best thing might be to turn off the Alert Tracker, if it's bugging you, and set the Alerting Level to Low.

As Simon says as long as its catching them thats fine, although I have found this on Symantecs site :

Are you using Ultima Online Service ?
As it says : Security Alert: "Default Block Sokets de Trois v1. Trojan" when using Ultima Online Service

Hi Simon and Sandra
Thank you for your comments.
The attacks are getting to me, in fact I think that they are not attacks at all but a problem with my PC. They only started after updates to IE6 and media player 9 from the microsoft site.
They are increasing in frequency now up to 50 an hour. I presume that this is not people trying to hack my PC but a problem with my PC. Spoke to a friend who says that it is something to do with a Windows plug and play port? During writing these commnents I have had Norton report 10 Trojan attempts.

Do you use Ultima or other on line gaming stuff JK ???

Hi JK
I'm getting them as well. The minute I connect to the net I get an attack. I have been in Symantics website and it just says norton is blocking it successfully but I agree it's bloody annoying. I am getting them about every 5 minutes. >:(
PS I forgot to mention Sandra, I don't use Ultima, I prefer M & S bras ;)

I get tons of attacks on my firewall all the time, I have a look occasionally but leave off my alert like simon said. End of day if its stopping them its doing its job , but does get annoying sometimes, you wonder were theyre all coming from!!! >:(

Hi All
Have not been online for a few days, and now I am no longer
getting these attacks. Thank you all for your comments.

Are you on a static or a dynamic IP JK ?
If you are on dial up and not BB then quite often just disconnecting and reconnecting to your ISP will stop the attacks as your IP address will change.
Unfortunately if you are on BB with a static or a "sticky" dynamic IP then this often wont work as the IP address doesnt change :(
